D'OH! I'm a dumb-ass! As it's still Saturday the 27th here, I have the race marked for tomorrow on my calender!

Pete Jacobs has taken the swim with Luke McKenzie close behind.

looks they have about 1-2min lead over Jason Shortis ans Nick Saunders.

Looks like a very fast swim. the report was posted at 44min. so the swim time must be very similar.

now with 60mins into the race T1 would be getting pretty busy

Looks like pretty good weather for the race.

From the Perth BOM

BUNBURY:

A few showers tomorrow in fresh westerly winds.

    Maximum temperature: 20

UV Index:    10 [VERY HIGH] decreasing to 7 [High] under cloud.

Bunbury is just north of Busso

No rain on the RADAR yet though

It sounds like Jason isn't making the sort of moves that a lot of us were expecting at this point in the race. His bike being his strength and all

Bernie he's 6 mins back, on form he should cover that. Except that Peter Jacobs is an improving athlete with a 2:56 at NZ, if gap grows more, a big task to catch Jacobs. But it's still quite early.

Also Peter Vabrousek (CHE) came in with good form, not actually mentioned yet

As for McKenzie, still leading, sorry don't know his run capability.

Gotta say he didn't look that impressive at Noosa Bernie, though the distance may have been a bit short for him!

GO DAVVYN!!

First call for Stephens, 14:00 back & Vabrousek 12:05

Pete Jacobs is actually in a very strong position. Vabrousek's supposed to be in good form & has a pedigree, most recently 2nd in IM Wisconsin in 8:54.....over a tougher course.

No red flag for Jason yet, unless he drops more time.

Australian Luke McKenzie, just 22 years old, won the inaugural Dairyland Triathlon in Wisconsin by 5 minutes over Cam Widoff. McKenzie and Bryan Rhodes exited the water with a 3+ minute lead on several of the top pros, including Widoff. Widoff turned in the top bike split (2:16) to move into second place, but he gained only one minute on McKenzie and Raynard Tissink was just a minute back. Once McKenzie put on his running shoes he increased his lead with a 1:17 marathon, giving him a five minute victory. Tissink finished behind Widoff, and Tim Luchinske, with the fastest run (1:16:12), moved into fourth

I found this on Luke M. He's still in lead with Jacobs, Shortis 7:50 back.

Rebecca Keat over Marissa Robbins, who's just moved to 2nd.

in the womens race lets not forget a kiwi in the field who is a 3hr marathoner.......Karyn Ballance currently in 5th can run bloody fast. Also watch out for Fiona Docherty... (Bevan Docherty's sister), she can run like the wind also. ((Debut Ironman though so not sure on her ability to pace)

Getting text message here from a few people watching the race and they say its electric over there........ can see this may end up on my schedule for 2005........

Times overall starting to look fast......starting with the swim.

Race clock 4:17, under 50k to ride, should bring them in at 5:30 or better. They should run sub 3, so that's sub 8:30, more like 8:20 for the top guys.

On course report from Blacky 0412009918.

Black clouds & winds picking up. Rain coming in. Under 30k for the leaders to T2, but conditions deteriorating.

Mckenzie & Pete Jacobs look good, but Shorto's not dropping.

Wimothy 17th, having a very good race. Petr Vabrousek dropped off, riding somewhere near Wimothy.

Chris "Noknees" Ernst a solid 1:07 swim.

Aquaterra, a strong 57+ swim.
