Ironnerd 892
Both Ryf and Jan are members of the PTO and have donated to the PTO Covid relief fund that is being run as part of the Daytona race. Being financially secure they do not need to take the risk of travelling through plague central to race at Daytona.

There was to be some age group stuff. But seriously it would have had to be chaos with age groups in there, though I guess they would be different events schedule across the weekend. Challenge have to make money somehow - though Covid has stuffed that up. There are age group races spread over the weekend. 2000+ athletes think that travelling from all over the US to a state with 6000+ Covid infections a day and then returning to their families is a good idea. dazaau 488
You can donate $0 and watch I believe. I registered and $0 was an option. It is weird that if you do want to donate it is at least $35AUD. They should have had lower options in there. Edited December 1, 2020 by dazaau

Definitely, a lot of people would be happy to pay $10, but will end up paying zero rather than $35

I find it hard to believe so many pro athletes would be risking the travel and exposure, but I guess $$$ talk.

According to the Challenge website the AG races are still going ahead. You can still sign up for the events which have not sold out.

Lost in transition 99
This would have been pretty good, but timing is everything. Some of the biggest pro’s are dropping out, and I’d except a couple more come race day with those climbing COVID numbers. I do wonder, if this had been a Pro only race, with a bubble created for the athletes, would they have still come?
