Trailforks is great for MTBing, go to app if going riding somewhere new as will show trails in area, shows gradient, has description of trail in many cases, regular user updates on trails . Also works of phone gps so don't need cell signal.

Another to try is maps.me again no cell signal required, can load routes in, and upload maps. This was recommended for Run Larapinta and great. I have used as standard GPS nav in care instead of Gooogle Maps sometimes and in remote areas.

Thought you might be interested in this.  We live in Winchester and these are my local (and not so local) ultra and XC trails.

Now I want to buy a gravel bike and cycle around your backyard FP 😀

Waiting on this to arrive.

Supposed to land on or around the 12th and then a few days to be built up.

Unfortunately don't have room for N+1 hence the roadie listing in TriTrade.

This ticks a lot of boxes for whilst we are living in our van and travelling full time as I won't get precious about it getting knocked about.

Stock 38mm tyres. Will accept 650b rims if I want to get into the real rough stuff, or just as easily accept some nice 28mm carbon rims for the road.

Excited now............but someone please buy my roadie or my wife will have a fit!!

Nice mate, that's the way I'm thinking of heading soon, don't do enough of road or MTB to keep them both so might offload them both and shoot for the middle ground.

Yeah, thats it Roxii,

I really only do the annual Charity ride on the road these days. Most of my training was done on windtrainer, and I had to sell it and my MTB when we moved into the van. I think this will give me the best of everything, and as a bonus, can be loaded up and used to do some bikepacking, which I am keen to get into.

I picked up a Jamis Renegade S4 today.

It was available, in my size and ready to go on 24 hours notice.

Same bike shop had an S3 too, but it isn't ready and they don't know when it will be.

So, while the S3 was a better option, I went with the "I want it now" approach.

Realistically, the S4 is going to be up to anything I'm looking at in the near future anyway.
