Do you reckon the 85 year old Japanese guy who was the oldest entrant at Kona this year eats sashimi?

I hope Nathan does well, I rode 200 km with him the other week, he's looking very fit. I think he was initially eyeing off busso but he mentioned that as it started to heat up up here recently he adapted really well so he and his coach thought lets give Malaysia a crack.

Why have they got Grochy as NZL?

But yeah hope he has a good one, seemed pretty down on himself after the last one.

Thought he was Strayan?

He had a good run in China a few weeks back, ran 1.1x?

Down after IMWA? Biked way too hard? 4.35, 13th fastest overall and that was as an Ager.

From Grochys FB from China

Quote

A disappointing performance for me on Sunday that was quite simply not at an elite level over that distance. Congrats to Crowie, Max and Jesper for putting on a clinic off the front.

Well done to Rocky and the team at Zhongjian Sports and 2862 Triathlon Series for hosting an incredible event. It was an honour to be able to race the first nationally broadcast triathlon in China. The support and experience you provided myself and the other professional athletes was exceptional and I’m already looking forward to coming back to China to race next year.

I’m having some down time before taking the lessons learnt over the last 6 months of racing into a build before Busso IM

I dont think that is way to hard for him, he's a strong cyclist, he mentioned to me that if his legs feel OK after Malaysia he will line up for busso again, i think he is going to be down there regardless.

Maybe they saw his tan and figured thats a Kiwi tan for sure :)

Yeah hes raced a bit this year internationally, He was in Vietnam, he DNF there, i called out to him when he was a couple of km into the run when i rode past and he was walking....picked up a gastro bug the day before, then a few weeks later he was in Japan and had a cracking race..i think 4th, then China a few weeks back and now Malaysia - so hes picked up some good international experiences as a pro athlete this year thats for sure.

Why?

Ive missed your thought process here.

Me too.. watt and wurf are unrelated entities...

Sounds like watt is rethinking the coaching caper based on that cupcake podcast (questioning his commitment, athletes leaving etc) so not be keen to go for a long trip..

Isn't he coaching wurf or is it Amburger?

Wurf is coached by the guy who trains team sky - cant remember his name and to lazy to back through his blog post.  and Amburger no longer is coached by Watt, they parted ways a few weeks before kona.

He ran a half marathon in Tassie today... 1:35:23.

Time didn't look that flash until I looked at the course profile. Point to Pinnacle - sea level start, finishing at 1250 odd metres.

As a moderate runner at best, I couldn't think of anything worse.

I wouldn't give any credit to what Callum Millward says about Cam Watt

4th and must’ve been a sprint finish!

And did well to hold off being chicked!

Most of us are sitting on the fence here, so not taking sides, but Millward came across as credible on the podcast. Watt's response sounded like it was either drafted when he was drunk/high or written by his 12 year old daughter. The bit about Callum begging and haranguing Watt for coaching is laughable especially when CM has the emails. Potentially a douche move using social media, but in retrospect, probably the right thing to do. You can't have coaches running around doing that shit during a race. In a bar, pissed up he has a go at an athlete, so what, during a race, different story. And in actual fact Watt's response actually backed up and confirmed (more or less) what Millward said.

You need to try harder Peter. There are 9 Lionel threads on the first page of ST and only 1 Wurf thread on Trannies.😀

I hope he does come to Busso. I will be so slow this year that he will definitely over take me.

Pont of order:

Neither "Countries"  or NGBs  "send" athletes to the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon.

Likewise whilst one is always "representing" one's: home country, state, town, club, school, family etc the term that is more appropriate is "from" for the same reasons as point one.

Sorry, still not a subscriber to the concept of a corporation ruling the sporting sphere.

How do you feel about the IOC, or FIFA?

The WTC boardroom probably looks like a meeting of the Puritans compared to them.

That said, I understand Dalian Wanda (ie ultimate owner of WTC) has had Sep Blatter’s (of FIFA scandal fame) on the payroll.

Of course, stories have been circulating about WTC being up for sale again...

Well if I can get 30kmh on 120W on my bike.... Hypothetically he'd push 3 times that wattage and travel at approx 90kmh.

Makes sense to me. 🤷‍♂️👌👌
