Naut 718
So tomorrow is the inaugural CyclingTips Giro della Donna. I am in with a big group from my LBS. It happens to be my birthday, so I really looking forward to it. Anyone else having a crack, I reckon it will be a really fun event with a great vibe.
longshot 96
Happy Birthday! Not going, but reckon best ride close to Melbourne, top scenery, and at 6% and 1500m total (guesstimate) not too steep nor too long for flatlanders and or heavyweights Only blemish is incessant motor bikes with no mufflers. My favourite though is Mt Donna Buang from Launching Place along Don Rd and Donna Buang Rd which is gravel up, then bitumen down to Warbuton and back along rail trail to Lillydale. Good on Cycling Tips for organising ....
lucky7 97
Yeah - I'll be dragging myself along at the back of the field. 107km with 2700m vertical gain. Going to be fun
Naut 718
Was a great day in perfect conditions. A few people got caught out and crashed. Ended up push one guy that crashed and snapped his derailleur on the gravel. All in all a great day and I'm in if they run it again.

Steno 444
Did the ride... An interesting day! Been suffering some exercise induced asthma over the last months and popped at 8km mark today - not much fun for next 90km or so. Turned about 3km after cement creek and called it quits. Time to go back to see the specialist. Guy I was riding with broke his gear shifter somehow and Shimano guys singlespeeded him to 39 19 for the last 70km... As I said interesting day. My view on the ride? Beautiful, amazing and a must do! Perfect timing and training ride for Alpine Classic. Edited November 22, 2015 by Steno
lucky7 97
Cracking day out. Ambition/ability equation didn't work in my favour coming around the final bend at Cement Creek. Missed the Rock and landed in the stinging nettles, so a good outcome. Did anyone else have issues with Garmin tracking the ride? My total kms seem to be out - and elevation out too. Fingers crossed this ride. continues Edited November 22, 2015 by lucky7
Naut 718
I got about 106 to the top and just over 2,600 vert
lucky7 97
Seems mine skipped the road between Cambarville and just outside Marysville - so ended up with 4000m vert. Pity there's no good way to edit Strava maps
MickyC 22
Ripper of a day (freezing all the way to Marysville though!). The 20km up Reefton seemed to go on and on and on.... Archeron Way was stunning.
Naut 718
Yeah, I was watching my Garmin up Reefton thinking it was the longest 20kms I have ever ridden. I was very pleased once it turned to rolling hills. Acheron Way was sensational, I was riding with Brendan Canty who was waving his selfie stick around through there. Hopefully he got some good shots.
Steno 444
Seems Cyclingtips caught all my pain.... main picture feature to rub it in!!! Veeral also captured my mate getting his bike not fixed! Edited November 23, 2015 by Steno
Naut 718
Lol, Ella has an Instagram pic of me holding an ice cream and a beer.
ScubaSteve 81
Rode it and loved it. Scenery was spectacular, especially along Archeron Way. Very glad I had 25mm tyres on, I saw quite a few people with pinch flats on the gravel section. Steno - I think I saw your mate grinding away with what he said was a broken cable. His riding partner ( you?) initially offered to change bikes, then said you'd ride in the same gear as him to share the pain. What a mate!
ScubaSteve 81
oh - and a tip. Don't ask the Shimano guys if they have a screw for Look cleats. They didn't like that!
