No, just rambling nonsense.   I don't think anyone has claimed that O'Grady or Zabel aren't 'hard men', or that there aren't cheats in other sports and other professions.   The only reason Stuey,

You know, its interesting, I see similarities in the professional peloton to the organisation I joined in the mid 80s.   As history has shown the organisation was entrenched with corruption at every

we all have choices trek. of course he had a choice. just like the bloke who chooses to walk out on his family because he's bored, or it gets a bit hard - granted some choices are very difficult but t

Ok Roxie a hypotheticAl for you .

I'll admit Armstrong came across as a bully and did in fact use as you say use his wealth and influence to get out of his offenses.

Just say OGrady or any other cyclist you care to mention was as succesful as LAnce , can you honestly say or think that they would have done anything different to protect their "BRand" ?

given the number of times O'grady and the others had chances to come clean , the number of times they All Lied to protect themselves , I can't see how anyone can differentiate between them , just so happened that LAnce was the most succesful and had the most to lose and as a result of his success had the biggest "brand" as well as the most resources at his disposal.

The reason they lied so many times was to protect brandOgrady or brand ullrich , just happened Brand Armstrong was bigger

no matter how much of a nice guy they were , they would have all done the same , the exact same without any shadow of doubt

Mate I don't disagree with a lot of that, but the fact lance was prepared to try and destroy innocent people to protect his falsehood sets him above the other players. He made himself the target.

Yes they are all cheats, Aussies amongst them. I don't care if people think I have the right to comment or not, my opinion of stuey has diminished considerably, not because he took drugs, or he got caught but the pathetic unbelievable excuse/ explanation he has trotted out.

There may be honour among thieves, but they are still thieves.

I agree Roxii. The issue I have is the bullshit "only one time story". I don't care what they did but they could cut the shit. Amnesty is the only hope for this.

Knowing cycling and it's culture I think there is no hope of this issue being fixed.

The only chance is IF. Sky is clean any new young riders may have actually been in an environment where there is nothing to cover up, and no omertà, and hopefully they will be free to speak up, and one would hope they would be encouraged to, as being on a clean team your worst enemy is an unclean team. No point being clean and losing.

What about if Lance became Pope, then there would be hope.

Hey, if ogrady is catholic, and a fair chance he is with than surname, if he goes to confession, is he forgiven?

They have a sliding scale, so unless doping is worse than raping kids, he should be fine.

Jane Flemming, anyone?

Provided a sample for someone else, at the request of an official.

A mate of mine was in Japan as a personal trainer for a while, one of the top 1500m runners in Aus for a while, not far off Mottram, also coached by NB. Still a major stud today. Reckons a certain 400m runner had some top quality assistance. She didn't even know what it was but her coach NB provided it and she drank it. The quote from NB after things went sour between the two of them was "I could ruin her career with a one paragraph letter".

Mottram's times have also moved all over the place in short periods too.

Nope nothing's sacred.

So his career is a sham ??. You have no idea about top level sport.

Most of you blokes would give your nuts to be worshipped like you do macca and crowie. So you wouldn't have a dabble to be that person if given a chance. ??

His career is awesome in what was a terrible time for world sport.

Why did he not put his hand up when White went down? If he did, I bet his book would have made more money then it will now.........as a fictional biography!

Lance just sent me a text message. Apparently he's got no friends any more so he's just using random numbers. He says Stuey's a lying, cheating arsehole (he spelled it "ass" but I'm interpreting to Australian for you all) and deserves everything that's coming to him. So I guess it's official unless any of you want to dispute LA's racing credentials?

Bet Lance isn't catholic.

His first wife and mother of three of his kids is and a very devout one at that.

He talks about it a lot in his first book and his slant on faith and spirituality a lot of which I happen to agree with.

I might add evidently I offended a few folks yesterday.

Although I will say there is a bit more to the story any offence or hurt is regretted and Im happy to leave that particular issue at that.

Just quoting for those that have TU Blocked....

Unless you have me blocked too, in which case... Up Yours!!

You wouldn't know what to believe in that book. He talked about being disgusted at the porn mags and having to masturbate when he had to go store his sperm.

I think it was Floyd come out and said along the lines that it was BS and the guy regularly went to strippers etc.

I don't think me running across the grass on a corner will stack up against Lances record - I outed myself on that because it was so ridiculous - I surprised any intelligent human would even bother remembering it

I can only imagine that the people so eager to crucify these guys must have something hidden in their own closets that they wouldn't want known - they do say let he who has not sinned throw the first stone - it's a bit sick really the way the haters are all so self righteous - in fact it's unbelievable that they are so zealous in their attacks :shy:

So why keep adding fuel to the fire - just let it go. You only make yourself out to be a hater!

does anyone else find reading this stuff depressing? Yeh I know I shouldn't read it!

Seems every post relating to this subject becomes a platform for TU to tell us how bad the world is and how we don't know shit; or Trek telling us we know nothing about top level sport because he assumes none of us have been there. Geez life sucks huh!

Is that like diverting attention away from oneself by accusing others of lacking intelligance or zealous attacks etc.?

We believe of others what we see in ourselves. I can't believe that anyone with an ounce of moral fibre can defend blatant liars, cheats and bullies but that's just because my personal integrity makes me think that way. Others are clearly not so burdened. Forgiveness is easy if they appear genuinely remorseful (and not just upset that they got caught) but I won't excuse the decisions and there must be consequences if we ever want to change future behavior.

It's ironic that some of you guys think that the "haters" are a symptom of a generation that can't handle adversity and get upset when anything happens that "isn't fair", given that the main cause of that sort of lack of resilience is over protection and a lack of consequences.

You know if I hadn't have eagled the eighth at Illawarra Golf Course in 1987, I don't think I could comment on this thread.

Pretty sure it was downgraded to a Par 4 that year. It will definitely have to be wiped out.

He's far from normal. Strikes me as a classic sociopath.

Jordan Rapp had dinner with him, what's so bad about sociopaths they are generally the most successful people in the world, top business leaders, pollies, sports people. World needs sociopaths to function

Sounds like it was the status quo.

whether O'grady is a normal guy or a C&nt They all collectively did a good job of ****ing it for everyone serious who follows.

Its gonna leave a big big question in a lot of junior athletes heads about whether they wish to dope to make it for a long time.

From a mate at uni who was a sprinter for an African nation and doped, sprinting was no different in the same era.

Looking at the jaws of Tate and Gallen they look well supplemented.

The number of Aussie female sprint athletes in their 20's with braces also looks to be a statistical anomaly.

... and even psychopaths are highly successful people, many are politicians, lawyers and captains of industry.

As an example how can a criminal barrister successfully cross examine a sexual assault victim and absolutely destroy that person in the witness box to defend the most abhorrent of criminals and their actions, yet then happily go home at night and sing a lullaby to their daughter to put her to sleep before sleeping soundly themselves? There is your answer..... a lot of them thought they were so talented they were also exempt from paying tax.... but that part didn't work out so well for them... haha.

Yep Lance is a classic sociopath. You just have to understand the animal you are dealing with. Most are charming, engaging, intelligent and fun to be around. Until things don't go their way, then (pick one) its your fault, you are jealous of their success, etc etc etc. That's why they surround themselves with synchophantic personalities who blow sunshine constantly up their arses and perpetuate their own legend of themselves. Frank and honest advice is to be avoided at all costs and when it all goes pear shaped, well see above. The thing that really disturbs me about Lance is all his wives and girlfriends are carbon copies of his mum.... :(

Generally they have narcissistic personalities, a good dose of ego mania and a complete lack of understanding or empathy. It just doesn't compute.

Ive met plenty of them in my personal and professional life.
