  2. I reckon you gave him a gobful first I agree with your sentiments though. If you've got a safe cycleway option and you're not in a bunch, I can't see why you wouldn't use it
  3. I personally think that strength becomes more important than technique in an open water environment. My stroke is quite different in a pool than in the open water and I'm often unable to beat or keep up with those in an open water swim whom I would normally lead out in the pool. Despite the added buoyancy, the wetsuit does change my stroke and requires much more effort in the shoulder area. Regardless of how comfortable a wetsuit is, I've never been able to maintain good effortless technique in a tri swim. The only thing that appears to help is practice, practice, practice in a wetsu

    Fitness

Awesome. I'm impressed. Can I ask your age and prior running background? I would get injured even just looking at this
  5. Perfect. Said so much better than I could
  6. I don't see why this has to be so complicated. You need both your long slow distance sessions and your shorter intensity speed sessions. Just like you wouldn't spend all your time on one discipline, neither would you spend all your time training at the one pace

    64.2. Thanks Plaz!
  8. Not if you're getting off and running 5+ hours If you're doing a 5hr bike and can back it up with a 3:30 run, then that's an achievement!

    Regret

Regrets. Yes. But there is nothing that can be done to change the past. The only thing you can do is don't dwell on it. Just learn from it. And keep moving forward.

    Going sub 10 in IM

Weight? Lighter usually - not always - means faster. Look to reduce your weight if you've got some to lose. Lengthy background in triathlon or another sport? A consistent long term sporting history usually - not always - means an advantage over those with only a few years training. Continue to work hard, consistently and with patience.

    Why do triathlon

The variety of swimming, biking and running. Triathlon allows you to be jack of all trades but master of none

64.2. Aiming for 60. Sub 60 would be nice though
  13. 165cm Not sure what to give up. Maybe anything in excess. Everything in moderation only. 3-4kg to lose.
  14. The current recommended amount is no more than 2 standard drinks a day - both males as well as females now - and any more than 4 drinks in a night is considered to be binge drinking. I really enjoy a glass or two a night but I have found recently that I do actually sleep better if not drinking at all so I now try to have at least a few nights that are alcohol free. Also, if you're tired or emotional or things are on your mind, it's best to stay away completely as the slide into binge drinking can happen pretty easily. Though you may gain temporary happiness and relaxation, you can end up wi
  15. Spinach & rocket mix, grilled salmon, beans, potato, tossed with a bit of dijonaise.
  16. Tonight's effort is especially pathetic. In keeping with the stuff-in-a-bowl and two-part-dinner-weekend theme... Left over spaghetti warmed with shaved parmesan, black pepper and a handful of chopped shallots - needed to stuff something in quickly before heading out! And a pack of frozen vegetable mix microwaved on return home. What a way to finish up a weekend
  17. Dinner part 1 = Vegetable soup and seeded bread roll Dinner part 2 = Tom Yum Soup with king prawns (Thai restaurant after movies) A bit too oily to be honest
  18. Frozen dinner also. Great for Friday nights. But mine doesn't look nearly as good as The Customers' Spaghetti bolognese prepared and frozen last week - nice and tasty with chilli too. Freshly grated parmesan and black pepper. All out of red wine so had to suffer with a glass of white
  19. Only saw this thread last night so missed the first night. Shame, as it was a lovely little frenched lamb rack with roast potatoes and steamed broccolini. Mmmmm.... Anyway, this was last nights dinner: Warm spinach salad with bacon, garlic, shallots, red wine vinegar and a splash of extra red wine tossed through english spinach and cherry tomatoes and topped with grated boiled egg and parmesan with a touch of cracked black pepper. And this was tonight's: Beef strips, carrot, shallots, garlic, green capsicum and corn stir fry with a bit of Hoi Sin and Sweet Chilli sau
  20. Mine's definitely still there.
