    Coronavirus

Looks like Christmas with my mum in Sydney will be off. I could isolate when I get home, but if they change the hotspot definition I could get stuck.

we have also had a work related link. I work for a NSW company that finally approved training for soem people in Sydney. People came from different parts of the State. Turns out one of them stayed in the same hotel room as one of the band members that played at Penrith RSL, inwhich one of the other band members tested positive from the Avalon RSL. They attended the training the next day. Now all people at the training have to isolate for 14 days and get tested, after they all go back to their regional towns. Two of my team were meant to go but didn't. Lucky.

same. Was going to visit my mum in Sydney for christmas - near, but not in the Northern Beaches LGA. Don't want to get stuck. Sounds like they've done it now, with a traffic light system on permits for fly-ins. I wonder what they will do with road borders?

Face masks are mandatory on public transport and when in taxis or ride share vehicles. Face masks must also be worn when inside shopping centres, including the retail stores inside the shopping centres, and large retail stores such as department stores, electronics stores, furniture stores, hardware stores or supermarkets. It is strongly recommended that you wear a face mask in other situations when you are unable to stay more than 1.5 metres from other people, such as transport stops, busy walkways, and shops.

here in NW Vic masks are getting rarer. I'm not sure what the latest rules are even, myself. Even in Coles, not all staff are wearing them.
  7. Busso - ride the little train to the end of the jetty and the underwater observatory. Swim the jetty? We did a tigermoth flight, which was super awesome. Not sure if theyre still going Freo - go to the old prison - they do an underground one which is awesome; Maybe take the ferry for the day to Rottnest - rent bikes and ride around. Or, do a scenic flight (form the little airport on Rottnest - did that one too.

    Coronavirus

For sure. One case or one person could have caused a reaction. Listening to the WA premier he aluded to the fact that it was a close run thing about delaying their border opening, and that he is fully prepared to snap it shut again. Perhaps if one of those travellers had tested positove it would have been a different story though, for Qld and WA. The Feds, I feel, need to get a resolution with the States that can handle this sort of thing with a measured response that doesn't involve reactive hard borders. While we have returning travellers, freight, supplies, imports/

Agreed. Just as a Victorian who heard numerous times about the negative use of security guards, and how Police were the answer because security guards were useless..... It was a NSW Police Officer and their processes that allowed the Germans to travel onwards, and a Victorian Wilson Security Guard that picked up the issue at the airport. lets not tarnsh entire groups with individuals actions. The media plays up the aspects that make a good headline in a 24hr new news cycle, where everyone wants breaking news every minute.

So it's NSW turn to bungle an international returning traveller (x2) and allow them to instead get out of the quarantine line, transit to the domestic airport, and travel to Melbourne

    Coronavirus

As Peter said , they said yesterday they'd identfied it as a UK strain - so something new. The extreme reaction to information form one person was probably needed, but it's good they followed up. Pity the investigators didn't get it sooner. Unfortunatey, it doesn't surprise me that some twat decided it was funny, necessary or unimportant to give false information. There are always people out there that lie and deceive for their own benefit, or to hide something.

    Coronavirus

It seems to me the ealier action of contact tracing and requiring those to isolate days ago was the best work of any State - especially considering the geographical distribution of the early cases. It will be interesting to see what their sewerage results look like in coming days, as they are saying this strain has particularly mild or no symptoms. With people testing based on symptoms, there may be a fair few "missing".

Zero new cases in SA. First day of lockdown. I don't really get it. They has 17 in one day initally, then 3, 2 and 0. Then initiate full lockdown. Seems it was alreaduy stopped to a degree. I wonder if the SA premier will cop flak for such a significant reaction to a small and decreasing number.

and moonlighting at a pizza joint. Those working hotel quarantine should be fully supported to have that as a one and only job. It's a high risk area. Like having a nurse in a COVID ward moonlighting in aged care between hosptal shifts.

indeed. If it works, and stops there. But I reckon there will be ongoing changes and restrictions. Hit it hard and ease off, rather than go in easy and get harder

it's more extreme than Melbourne in the no outside exercise at all. No reasons to leave your house except for essential services. And only 2 new cases today - but the CHO was saying the epidimiology of this one has a 3 day generation period, sothey are trying to break the cycle.

    Coronavirus

last I heard Vic and NSW have not shut the borders. They are discouraging non-essential travel, but orders still fully open. That is what, 20, and 14 suspected? NT and WA slammed shut again, turning around planes and trains (The Ghan). NSW I think is a bit gun shy about shutting the border due to all the whinging about Qld - but I'd like them to work WITH Vic this time. Living in the NW corner where the 3 states meet makes things stoopid when they act independantly and change every 2 secs. GB was just saying that closing borders isn't the answer - States need to tru
