Also Auckland OD Tri in 2012....somehow totally got lost -- could not see any buoys anywhere -- 1st and last time I've ever done backstroke in a race.....water safety pointing me in the right direction --- even though I still couldn't see any buoys or other swimmers

Just got a gift card for the race I entered - $20 ( all others have been transferred ) - all i bought was some socks and a beanie for my hubby - at least we could combine the gift cards -- just had to pay $10 for shipping on 2 items we don't really need

From a business point of view I do not understand why the PTO is giving prize money to all of these races around the world. How many Pro's are there likely to be?
9 females and 13 males

We are in -- did the club race on Sunday as well - was supposed to be a training thing but that went out the window when they said GO

My hubby got his registration link as well yesterday for the 70.3, I havent' got mine for the IM - but thinking now we will try transfer to Cairns -- least that should be good as we live in QLD -- and since the border isn't opening until at least April 2021-- the WA premier might just keep it closed until a vaccine is rolled out ( maybe 2022? ) 🤬

It just was interesting to see that some women missed out on a spot when they performed better then some of the males that did qualify ..Solely because the numbers weren't there for the females so they got less spots assigned.
10 spots were assigned to females and 65 to males
The data in the graph was adjusted down so every one was for an example, s a 25 year old male

We had a bit of time on our hands and so did this chart below
Given that Ironman are encouraging females - and that Cairns had a small cohert of women
Assumptions:
- All Kona slots taken, with no roll down
- Times – Gender adjusted – 11% allowance for females; and Age adjusted (closely based on 70.3 published data as below)
Graph of Adjusted Race Times versus Age group
- Blue dots – Male Qualifiers
- Red dots – Female Qualifiers
- Black Squares – Females missing allocation due to very restricted slots

That was a brutal tough race
The water looked calm but on the 2nd lap the chop picked up
It was so hot I stopped at each bouy and let water in the front of the wetsuit
So so hot on the bike - I didn't push too hard just so I could finish it ( and new course is quite hilly - going over Rex lookout 6 times )
So many people didn't finish- pulled out during the bike or the run. Quite a few went to hospital from dehydration.
I usually finish mid field but because not that many were I was at the tail end
Happy to say that hubby and I both finished

I would check with them, it depends on how they will raise the credit, if they raise it as a cover the full ticket including the active fee then there should be nothing to pay (that would more or less be a transfer), but if they just raise it as the cost of the ticket (so excluding active), then there will be an active fee to pay on top.
At least you get a credit, you are in a better spot than us who have had Port cancelled on us twice now, it's now May 2021. Not sure if we will ever get an event over 500 here until there is a vaccine. I reckon the council won't like it.
Cheers
I had entered Port as well-- I had transferred to the weekend just gone but now 2021

Just flights to Port Mac - they were Virgin
Waiting for WA to see if we can get to Busso - otherwise it will be those flights lost.
Accommodation has been transferred to Port Mac 2021 now and were doing Airbnb for Busso
Fingers crossed for Cairns in 3 weeks time

Maybe as it's getting warmer in QLD - and with the humidity it might help kill it off a bit
-
IM NZ in March this year
-
WE are in -- I signed up as soon as I heard that Port Mac was cancelled -- so at least I could be motivate to race

Wa border won’t open for 18 months. Same as NT have said.
its just WA people don’t understand what that means yet because they can still go to the pub.
Pity they don't do a travel bubble between states like QLD, SA, NT and Tasmania

I'm in QLD and yes would race. I don't normally do Noosa but think all QLD races would have Covid Plan in place --- certain time to register and rack bike etc. I don't usually visit the expos anyway
-
Think they are up to the Edge 830 now ?
What's the battery life like -- I have a 520 at the moment and battery only lasts for about 6 hours or so

Fingers crossed the 2 QLD races go ahead.
QLD will have a lot to lose if COVID comes back badly - with the AFL and Netball moving here for the rest of 2020.

If all goes well and we can fly to NZ for the IM 2021 - what is the best way to travel with 2 bikes each. Thinking of doing the IM (TT bike) and then doing some touring on our touring bikes. Courier a bike ahead or pay for extra baggage ? Can't seem to find prices for extra baggage and also if courier ahead -- which company is best/cheapest

We both got in - I was entering at 7am to make sure....

I had a Varia - up until yesterday morning - where it came off my mount for some unknown reason, while we were out riding.
It was fantastic -- it was good for cyclists following behind me as it would also notify them if a car was approaching - as the red light would flash faster.
Rode this morning with a old traditional rear light and had to keep looking behind me to see if any cars approaching
