  1. I am heading up and should probably have posted previously in the 'racing unfit' thread as I am seriously underdone (more than usual) and should have entered the 100kg+ category as I am well in there now... Decided to fully strip and rebuild my bike over weekend and now it is running like a bag of shit so trying to get a 'last minute' service from someone half decent.. (amateur mistake and not the first time I have made it..) There has been a lot of whinging about the changes to locations/courses but my accommodation is now very convenient so no complaints from me. 3. Yep, I understand and agree. PSA is only an indicator, but consistent substantial increases are a fairly good warning that it needs to be checked out and acted upon. From what I understand Prostate Cancer is usually slow growing and not that aggressive, but not always. Good luck with yours and don't stress, as at least you're aware of it and are getting it checked which is the important thing.

  4. 150km ride from home to Warburton on the rail trail, up Mt Donna Buang, then down the gravel side to Healesville, Yarra Glen, Lilydale and home. 2143m altitude gained. I jumped back on the rail trail near Lilydale airport as the traffic was crazy and every third car had a caravan. It has me thinking about doing the Giro Della Donna in 3 weeks time.

  10. Nobody would ask those questions and even less likely anyone would answer them but if somebody did ask them, Babbit would be last on the list. His interviews are softer than a roll of Cushelle soaked in fabric conditioner and laid out on cotton wool.

  14. Yes mate I'll be there for number 12. I'm in ok nick at the moment, no complaints (yet).

  15. I'll be there. It seems my best racing was late last year, my form has dropped way off from a good start in September - November. Anyway, I hope to still go ok. Surprised to see N/NE winds predicted, it's always a SE for Mooloolaba.

  16. It doesn’t stop you getting it. it only reduces the time and how bad you get it. 3 days instead of 14 days or longer its why, I can’t wait for the WA premier and QLD premier to start shutting borders again once cases ramp up. A side point however is, if you only get it for 3 days, you can only spread it for 3 days so that will reduce the numbers In Theory.

  17. The whole PSA thing as a reliable indicator bothers me. Mine has been as high a 6, but now on meds for what they think is benign prostate enlargement, it is back down to 3. The last few tests its been trending down slightly which apparently is good. But the last few months I've had pelvic/ab/lowerback pain, so I'm going back to Port Mac to see my urologist in May just to get another check. Wish I could get in earlier, but he is very popular. Thought the pain was just the old osteitis pubis again, but not so sure now. And after reading APs post where he had hip involvement......

  18. Mate, I wish I could help from Sydney. There are a bunch of people in Melbourne on here so they should be able to help. So from me to you, you will be in my thoughts and I will keep smiling and enjoy life for both of us. We can chat at any time. If you get really stuck, let me know. FM PS: I will book in for my belated blood tests when I get home in a week. Stay safe.

  20. Arrived in Canberra last night. Got the official word I was successful. Meet the Senior HR Rep this morning and was told I went really well in the interview. Announcement to the business this afternoon. I never mentioned salary in my interview etc but had an idea in my mind what I wanted. I broke it down into 1 - no pay rise (need to chat) 2 - small pay rise (disappointed but take the opportunity) 3- good pay rise (happy & take the opportunity) 4 - big pay rise (gets new bike) It's time to decide what new bike to get!!!!!!!! I start the officia

  22. ha ha nothing wrong with that I raced underdone on the run and bought Vaporflys 2 weeks prior, so I'm no better! I walked most of that IM run leg, but at least I looked sharp in my new Nikes.

  23. I don't really alter my diet. The only thing that has helped my race performances is training. I've done 21km training runs on 3 hours sleep, craploads of piss, no food in 12 hours and not been far off my pb. I'm sure there is science that explains the benefits of carbo loading, but like a lot of things in triathlon, it's importance is, perhaps, exaggerated. Peeps rocking up to races, under trained and 10kegs over race weight obsessing over things like carbo loading etc Their race time was determined weeks ago.

  28. I suspect there is some truth in that - opinion pieces allow the reader to avoid the need of having their own - they can simply adopt someone else's - whereas reading the reporting of facts requires more work on the part of the reader.

  30. There would be an uproar if I was running it. No Lifesavers - we can all swim No draft busters No vollies check to make sure our helmet is done up...."before we get to transition"...hello. No TA needed. Enter at your own risk + you paid to race...therefore that is the registration list - no QR code required. No spectators = no QR rego. BYO swim caps - cheaters always get caught out....... and what do you gain by cheating. Yep - no thrills racing.

  31. In times like this the events need to strip down there costs and offerings. Do we really need another T-Shirt Towel. After 28 years....i don't. Do we need swim caps... not really. I have dozens from races which are essentially single use swim caps. Do we need all the barriers setup around the perimeters. Not really. Bike racks yes. Insurance Yes. Its a pretty much enclosed venue. I reckon they could run it on the smell of an oily rag if they need too. Road closures yes - though maybe we just do 6 laps of the regatta centre. Desperate times calls for desperate measures!
