  1. Interesting to see that 2 of the pharma companies developing a covid-19 vaccine have released their blueprint for the trial of their vaccines. Lot of Blah, blah blah in the news article I read but the main points I got were Between them the test will be on about 75000 people with 50% getting the shot and 50% getting a placebo. Absolutely no guarantee that the vaccine will be available this year. It might happen or it might not. Moderna doesn't expect analysis of the results till late December. Pfizer's plan has no timeline for when analysis might be available - Might be as

  2. I'm still recovering from the stress of last night ha ha. Good on Richie for battling it through. He really has to work for everything doesn't he. His team, while they try, are also pretty average. Porte said there was supposed to be a guy with a wheel mid way on the gravel but for some reason he decided to hang out on the tarmac at the end of the gravel. Just not a hard core GC team like others who had three guys scattered throughout that section with wheels. he must owe Tom D and Wout big time for the little helping hand they eventually provided, was probably the 20% that made th

  3. I'm sure Richie would love that as well, but I doubt he was getting Team Leader offers from teams worth riding for. And as a Domestique, he may still get to ride as Leader in the secondary Grand Tours. Or he may get a chance in the TDF if the leader falters. How many times has the designated leader of Ineos not been the winner. And while unlikely, I haven't ruled him out of snaring the podium via the Time Trial. I'm often the eternal optimist.

  6. Chapeau to Lopez. Pretty much puts paid to Porte finishing on the podium, but without that 100 second time loss on the wind stage he’d be right in it still. That said the 3 strongest riders are in positions 1 to 3, so I can’t complain to much about porte’s luck. It is good to see Richie put together a complete 3 week GC ride in a grand tour. It’s such a shame that he’s had such rotten luck over the past 5 years. He’s now on the wrong side of 35 and taking up a domestique contract next year. Which I think is a big mistake. While I think he’s too old and just not good enough to win the TDF

  9. I hate wet lube. I was using Rock and Roll Gold because it ran really clean and smooth while fresh, but had to reapply nearly every ride. Started using Smoove and it is not quite as clean but the drivetrain is very quiet and I am getting about 250kms between applications.

  10. And to put that into IM context. MFD at Port is around 18 - 20% for about the final 50 metres. A "lot" of people have to get off and walk. Cannot imagine riding 5% steeper than MFD for more than 3k !!!!!!!!!!! Even with a 32 cassette on the back.

  12. I'm sure the boys didn't know what to do either, most games this year they have let in a try in the first 5 mins to be on the back foot from the get go.

  14. So for those on here who know more about US politics than I (which is almost everyone), in a situation like the peace deals that have been brokered by Presidents current and former, how much input does the president actually have, apart from making a grandiose announcement. I get the feeling that "back in the day" guys like Carter seemed to actually be involved in the negotiations and personally bringing the parties together, but I don't get the feeling that would be Trumps strong suit. ... and for that matter what real input does the president have in most big decisions.

  15. My race weekend went pretty well to plan, except for when it really really didn't. Friday was awesome. Arrived at about 130, dropped bags, got changed and went for a nice easy run up and over the hill and down into the new carpark loop, just to get a feel for it so I wasn't caught out by anything Sunday. Nothing funky, nothing stupid, just comfortable. Saturday? Not so much. Woke up with a really sore upper back and right side of my neck. Like really sore. Hopped on the bike for a gentle spin out to Kawana with my coach and realised pretty quickly that I was in trouble. Couldn't turn

  16. I volunteered and was in the main stadium for the whole games. It was very emotional. A couple of Fantastic memories: 1. Watching North and South KoRea walk in the stadium under one flag. A world historic event. 2. Lost. An Elderly gent got lost on the opening night. He was from the Blue Mountains I waited with him until almost everyone was gone then took him to the police station. They contacted the village he was at ( his career thought he caught the train home and left). I then drove him to Penrith police Station, where a person from the village met him. He was a bit pissed off wit
