  1. I have said it in an earlier post, but want to say it again, I am very respectful of all our political leaders both State and Federal of the difficulty of the times and I think everyone should cut them all some slack. I saw the strain on Gladys face tonight, agonising over what to do if NSW cases increase. I have also admired our Premier Anna to sticking to her guns over great criticism. I see the strain on Andrews and have also seen it on Scomo. Sure they have made some mistakes, all of them, but who wouldn't in this unprecedented time where we dont even know what's coming tomorrow. 4. That would require the Trans Tasman Bubble to be implemented, however there's currently some coming pushback from NZ:

  5. To anyone citing the 1%, it could be you or someone you love. This is a relentless little virus of which there are so many in the world its hard to count. But it is a very effective virus, not as deadly as ebola so it doesn't kill people to quickly. It is the perfect mix of infectious and it kills. I know the internet has a short memory, my kids grandma died of this in wave 1, she was 64 and also thought that it was only 1 %.

  7. The good analogy going round is that if I offered you a jar of 100 smarties and told you one of them would definitely kill you, and 17 would make you really sick would you take one?

  8. If you have Netflix, the last episode of Lenox Hill is a sobering watch. It is the NYC version of our RPA tv show. That last episode covers April/May as Covid takes hold and it is all hands on deck in ICU and Emergency.

  10. They are dumb. It’s a bit of a political bun fight in some ways here, but thankfully not the total BS fest it is there. Just about every joint that opened up too fast, too soon is paying for it now. This extends beyond the USA, check Greece, Israel for example.

  11. Sadly Grant Imahara, host of 'MythBusters' has passed away. Mythbusters was a fantastic show. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/grant-imahara-dead-mythbusters-host-was-49-1303101

  12. That's exactly where I was thinking of taking it 😀 With another bike that had a rushed service done at 99 Bikes in Indro he took great pleasure in ripping apart what they had done and also what they should have done. That bike was literally unrideable after 99 had had it - I mean who doesn't properly test ride a bike after major work?? Bike was perfect after Bikeology fixed it.

  13. We had the luxury of isolation buying us some more time going into this, however Aust and the US have handled this remarkably differently, not withstanding many geographic, demographic, social and differences between the countries. But, I'll give it crack..... Australia was able to achieve a largely coordinated, approach to suppressing covid by instituting the National Cabinet to facilitate cooperation between federal and state governments in a bi-partisan manner. Our governments acted decisively, usually based on the best available health information available at the time. Their messagin

  16. Yep, in their weekly newsletter they have consistently stated that until all park runs in a country can start then none will happen. I miss park run so much and wish it could start up here but at least they are portraying a strong consistent message...Ironman, not so much.

  17. I have had the SRAM Groupset back on the BMC & its been running awesome. No chain drops etc. The key is finding a mechanic who can set it up properly. I'm tempted to swap you That way both my bikes will be running SRAM

  19. I've found the best pedals hands down are Crank Brothers Eggbeaters, 4 sided entry means very easy to get back in after unclipping, which is also effortless. I found Shimano SPDs were nearly impossible to unclip once you went over beyond and angle of something like 45 deg. Gravity then works against you. I had a few interesting crashes down trails with my bike caught uphill of me and I was left hanging below. You had to unclip while you still could or you got stuck. I have never had that problem with eggbeaters, a slight twist and they release no matter what. The price you pay for this us

  22. I recall reading something somewhere that ParkRun don't want to fire up again until all events Australia wide can restart. If you have ParkRuns within a region picking and choosing if they restart or not, people will flood to the restarted ones and all of a sudden any restrictions that might in place are at risk. Christmas Day/New Year's Day are perfect examples of ballooning numbers just because some are on and some aren't. Happy to be proven wrong though.

  24. Canberra Half Ironman 2007 - got a heap of rain on the Saturday night and we walked to transition in the pouring rain. I already knew I would need to change my front tyre and I got a sliver of glass in it on a reccy ride the day before but didnt have time to change before transition closed. New tyre and tube and we weer good to go! Back then the Canberra half course was 93km. By KM 90 I was on my 5th puncture and had spent so much time waiting on the side of the road for a service vehicle that I gave up and walked back to T2. I concur!

  28. A number of fatal shark attacks in the past few weeks, and now another attack, this time not fatal off Fitzroy Island, near Cairns. The old argument of "more dangerous getting to the beach" is starting to look a bit shaky.
