42km in 42 hours

Recommended Posts

So there is a group on Facebook that is doing 42km running in 42 hours.  Organised by a couple of people based out of Sydney, nothing too formal but I thought some others here may be interested.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/540307090219500/?ref=share

Ironman are doing VR5 this weekend which is a 70.3 replica so 5km run, 90km bike, 21.1 km run

Could be a good weekend of training to get both done!

Any thoughts on how you will break it up Nealo? Or just get stuck in and smash out the 42 in one go?

I was thinking I'd go for 21+Km on Friday night and then two shorter runs Saturday and Sunday.

I am tempted to do one hit and just stop after 21km and start a new activity to suit the virtual ironman stuff.

Or, approx 10km Friday afternoon, 21.1 Saturday morning, 5 km Saturday arvo, 90km bike Sunday morning with a run off to complete the marathon distance.

Last month I decided to run 6km a day for 60 days. I'm up to 30.

Tomorrow I plan to run to a mates place, have beer or two and run 6km home.

Saturday I'll do 4 6km runs throughout the day and then Sunday I'll have one 6km run left to do.

Not very impreesive being only up to 30KM. Thats means your have successfully done 5 of your days. ;) 5 * 6 = 30

A friend was trying to persuade me to run the 42 km in 42 hours this weekend.

Unfortunately, it coincides with the final three days of my working week. I'd have to squeeze it in around working 7am to 6pm each day.

I'm still considering the best way to break it up, or possibly just have one late night.

I'm not sure if I'll make the 42km's over three days, but I reckon I'll give it a crack.

I've got a 5.5km lap around a lake near my place so might try and do 4 laps (22km's) on Friday night, then whatever laps I can handle over the rest of the weekend.  Thanks for the link Toolish, and the race plan GregB.  I'd seen it on FB a few times over the past week or so but wasn't all that motivated to give it a go...  until now!  Transitions comes through with the goods again!!

PS - I have no interest in doing it for the Medal or the T-Shirt, but reckon that's a great concept too!

On track

Ran the 6km to my mates, had 2 beers, ran the 6km home about 9.30pm.

Ticked off 2 more 6km runs this morning, if it wasn't for the wind the weather would be beautiful.

Fri - 10.4k, Sat 10.7km, leaving Sun morn post ride to do 21.1.

Haven't told the coach yet, I think I'm going to be in trouble.......but then again nothing really matters right now with no races in sight.

Day 1 done, 5k and 21k of the Hoka run fest, throw in a 90k ride in between and it’s VR5 done as well.

Niw to top up the Ks in the morning to finish off 42in42👍

Same, due to the rain last night I had a change of plans (soft).  At 11.30 this morning I hadn't run a step so decided I'd go out and see how far I could go...  Made it to 33km (very slowly) but was completely stuffed and sore.  The last 11km tomorrow will be tough!

8.96km in the bank for Stikman and I this evening. 6.64 to go tomorrow. We're going out for a loop around the river with Fatdog and Mrs Fatdog. In properly socially distant pairs of course.

Managed to put another slow 5km in this arvo.  5.5km to do tomorrow plus a 90km ride to get both challenges done.

At this stage both of these are going to be bloody slow!

After a decent sleep, and then reading a few motivational stories from other competitors, I walked out the door at 11.am this morning under pressure to complete last 11km by midday...  It was probably the easiest (and quickest) 11km of the challenge, but it was definitely not a sub 4 Marathon!

The 42.2kms in 42hrs was a great iso concept in that you could get out of it whatever you wanted.  Well done to the organisers and to anyone who had a crack at it!

Got the 42.2 done and the 90km bike for Ironman VR.

Wondering if this should be a standard weekend for someone looking to perform well at 70.3 level.

48k in 46 hrs .....  forgot that it finished at midday not 6.00pm.

Mrs L did the Hoka slam

5 k, 10k and 21 k Saturday and 64 K Sunday.

Sounds quite odd when you have Sunday breakfast with your wife and she walks out the door at 8.00am saying "Just going for a bit of a run, see you about 5.00"
