New - confused about joining a tri club

Recommended Posts

Hello, apologies if this has been asked/answered before.

I would like to join a triathlon club, i have no intention of doing races immediately.  I'm confused when reading the sites from the local clubs.

It has separate fees, one for the club and they advise to join TA also for another fee.  Do i have to join both??? Or is that only if I'm racing?

When you join, it automatically joins you for both.

If you join a club its cheaper

What state are you in?

Just call tri Vic.

But I suggest joining Wstc

they are one of very few clubs that run 10 races a year.

6 tri 4 du

and if you are a member you can race for $20. Its extr Friendly with no show ponies. Just people who like racing but the quality varies heaps from very good to no so good.

I think if you join Wstc its about $200 a year and this is tri Vic ta and Wstc membership all in one.

Or $243 to join just ta and Trivic.  Then if you wants to race at Wstc you’d have to pay $50.

So its a no Brainer to join that club.

And why not race soon?  There is no point putting it off, just go and have fun.  The only goal to finish.

No one is ever as fit as they want to be for races.

You wont win and you won’t come last.

Check all the different options

This club sounds like a triathletes dream, based on above they not only own the book of excuses but wrote them.

No need, to yell mechanical here or feign injury.

And nobody carrying a besmirchment from thirty years ago.

Sounds perfect, join them.

Booge, join the club, and just turn up to some races.  Have a blast, be stressed you're getting it all wrong, get lost on which way to run through transition, make mistakes, stuff up races, and have a ball.  It's not for sheep stations.  And clubs and club races are a great way to get your feet wet and learn the ropes.

Did my first tri in ages there last Sunday after a very long break.  Had no intentions of ever getting back in the water but did the enticer distance and raced on a road bike and a a freak'n ball!  It's just as friendly and lay back as it ever was, even if most of the faces are all new to me now :)    Motivated to pick up a bit of open water swim training and even dusting the cobwebs off my tri bike.  Did someone say "Shepparton 2020"?

You have to join both now, think it's about insurance while training in a group. With our club you used to be able to do just the club membership with out the TA but then things changed few years back.

But jump in and give it a go even if it just training for now.
