Elite Energy - BYO Caps

Recommended Posts

Elite Energy will be doing BYO swim caps at their races this year.

This could be interesting from a cheating standpoint, although Emmo does not run any races in Western Australia 🤣

So they are still compulsory to wear for safety. Apparently!!

So me bringing my own dark blue or black swim cap is safe?

If it was anybody else, I'd have said it was to stop the fish swallowing loose hair that ends up floating around. :)

Public pool bugbear number 1. Swimming along in a pool that has had women not wearing caps, and feeling like you swam into a spider web 😤

But don't they normally "police"/facilitate start waves by cap colour?

So a bit of a free for all?

It’s ok, we all know triathletes would never intentionally cheat.

Why enforce the cap rule if it's not for showing what wave you're in? And please don't give me the safety BS - so you can be seen etc... I'm more likely to see arms splashing about then the colour of your cap plus when people turn up with black the safety rule is mute anyway.

So why make them compulsory at all?

Or is it "we'll sell you a cap at Rego when you forget yours"?

Race competition rules:

"2.6. A competitor must wear the swim cap if provided by the Race Director on the outside of all other swim caps. For aquathlons or other multi-swim events the wearing of the swim cap if provided is compulsory for the first swim leg and optional in subsequent swim legs."

So if the race director is not providing the cap, this could easily be interpreted as you don't need to wear a cap.

Not sure about automatically blaming women.  Do you not have the old, hairy backed men at your pool?

I'll leave you with that thought for your next swim.  😁

Finally, a use for all those swim caps I’ve accumulated over the years ... or at least the ones that haven’t turned to glue already!

Series of spider's webs,

and they get stuck in your 5 am stubble,

wrapped in front of your mouth.

In the two pools I use it's mandatory to wear caps.  I usually go very early or very late bit I remember at Lane Cove pool, swimming after the aquarobic classes was like swimming through the perfume counter at David Jones. 🤢
