I don't quite understand, but big news apparently

Where would the PTO (professional Triathletes Organisation get the money to buy Ironman and its associated events. Seems a bit weird.

Then they talk about how the sport "Darts" did a breakaway thing from the Darts organisation etc etc and now they get more prize money etc. With darts you only need a dart board and a pub..... you don't need to close downs towns etc etc and get a 1000 amateurs athletes to pay in order to subsidise costs.

Yep.. seems a weird article.

That's simplifying what actually happened in the extreme but you have a point.

Ironman would love not having pros.   It wouldn’t worry them even slightly.

ITU would love not having age-group athletes (if only they could secure the finance stream)

Reality is that it all comes down to outside of triathlon community viewership. By that I'm referring to broadcasting, unfortunately triathlon doesn't translate to a worldwide TV audience... Your minds would be blown to know the costs of putting on triathlons and just how tight the margins are so in comparison with darts you are comparing apples with eggs.

Yep. Its why I don’t understand how Wanda paid 650 million for Ironman.

When the hedge fund had bought it for much much less. 80mill?
