Speaking of Drugs....Aussie AG Suspension

Have to feel sorry for the blind guy who he was a guide for. (Assuming he was innocent and unaware)

Poor Gerard. That sucks. To be fair though, most mere mortals would need to dope to keep up with Gerard enough to guide him through a race!

Yeah, I have two friends who have just moved up a place out of this, of course everyone is disappointed that this has happened.

I do wonder about how he got team selection for AG? Given the amount of competition for GC I thought TA would have had regular testing throughout the season and post selection, then at least the first reserve would have gotten the spot they deserved.

I am assuming as Gosens is a Queenslander that Thompson is affiliated with Tri QLD, and a club up there, anyone know?

Yeh Tri Nation is listed as his club.

I don't think the the competition for GC spots meant any more testing for AG competitors though.

I don't know why not!  Tests only cost 5 bucks each don't they?  And TA would be flushed with money wouldn't they?

He needs to talk to a few cyclists. Fancy getting done for EPO. He must have really stuffed up his dosage.

Hopefully Saint Mack of Horton releases a statement or better still takes another action.

Id like to see Saint Mack of Horton assume the preying mantis on the blocks for 24 hours. i am performing the preying mantis for 24 hours as I’m strong on anti drugs.  It’s a travesty that an age grouper gets 4 years but a bloke in the Australians swim team, my team, my relay team at an elite level can miss three tests and only get a year....

lol.

the Spanish guy must have thought he was a bit fat. That's stuff bodybuilders use when they're cutting

I was thinking the same thing. Given that I'm not competing, not affiliated with any sporting organisation and just looking to look cut, it sounds the go.

The only time I've looked cut lately has been after the skin specialist.

Yeah it means someone who is doping has 3 chances and the very worst they face is a 12 month ban. They dope, miss two tests, they could aways get off it, make sure they don't miss any more for the rest of the year and jobs a good un. Missing 3 tests should = 4 year ban.

I can't believe they actually caught an age grouper.

I'd love to know the story behind that.

Or why not train and dope for years but never compete. Then stop doping well before actually starting in competition with all that in the bank and boom superhuman performance.

I've often thought about that. I imagine any coach associated with something like that would get hit hard, but realistically, what is there to stop it happening.

Are there non-affiliated training groups in Kenya and other nations bringing young athletes through to the senior ranks before thrusting them on to the world stage?

Always keen for elite Australian athletes immersed in a high performance culture to maintain the rage.

Australia, making excuses for elite swimmers since 1964.

What was that 35 - 39 AG thinking. He needs to face some facts about getting old. Hopefully he can reflect, and seek the actual mental health it sounds like he needs.

Apparently he was a professional.

Good to see Trav, getting the Bronze......eventually.

Interesting though that it notes he did not return a positive from the Para race, does EPO clear from the system that quickly?

If they are microdosing, then it's not detectable 24 hours later. As I said earlier, he needs to talk to some cyclists, cause he stuffed up big time getting caught.

They should have an option that you can pay to get someone tested.

It would shut up all those that say someone is taking drugs and thats why they were beaten.

Enter CreditCard and persons name you want tested here.  thanks...  We will go test now.

Given how many people seem to be going undetected even while being tested, you'd have to be stupid or loaded to do that wouldnt you...

Yeah but it would shut up those people that constantly can't deal with being beaten and claiming it only happened because someone was on drugs.

The news article was interesting. How do you get EPO into your system, without knowing you were having EPO?I'm pretty sure it's only done by needle. What does it mean that he doesnt have the money to fight. If I was really innocent, you would fight. He has thrown all his past results in the shade, and any future results will be questioned as well. Such a dumb thing to do, all for an age group crown.

Doping in a sprint race yet still came second, he can't even dope properly, what a tool.

maybe he took it to be fast enough to keep up with Gossens? A slow guide isn't much help.

I met him in Budapest in 2010, he was mates with one of my training buddies at the time.  He's a lawyer at one of the Big 6 law firms in Melbourne, I seem to remember him being Irish.  He seems to have disappeared from facebook and even Linked In.

The story was in SMH as well, and I think they have a picture of him (from memory). All for an age-group podium.

If he was really innocent, I get how many he wouldn't fight it.

The money and the time and the stress. It would be easier to just do the 4 years and still train and then race again.

If you did a poll on how many races people do a year, the average person would miss about 15 races in 4 years?  I know some people that only race once a year. I even know a tri coach who hasn't raced since IM Sweden 2014.  And he is a coach.  fit as, trains all the time. Just doesn't race.

He could still do fun runs and other events, just not triathlons. Just change your name slightly on the entry.

But as EPO can only be injected.  he took it and is guilty

Technically but if he was to turn up and run the Shepparton Half Marathon entered online as Stef Johns, it's not checked.

Or even a Sri Chinmoy event where you can write whatever you want when you enter on the day, you can still race.

Lisa Marangon has been racing events on ZWIFT.  I see her all the time on there.
