Does your wife have a sister...

We ran out of coffee beans this morning. This is her way of saying sorry.

How do you rate the etap?

So far so good. Only had three rides on it. 160km total. Still getting used to it.

I’m really happy with how the bike descends and corners. I came down the free way 66secs quicker than my previous PB. It felt smooth and balanced on the road. I can probably take another 30sec off that time as I get more confident on it

After a month how is the etap going?, smooth, battery life, any issues

This arrived yesterday and now want to finalize the build, and interested in your thoughts on the etap force 12 speed

Thanks

Yep I'm loving the Etap - no problems at all.

It's smooth & changes crisply. The gear ratios are perfect for climbing.  I still haven't charged the batteries.

My wife got me a Quarq power meter for it a couple of weeks ago. It's works really well, clean lines & blends into the crank perfectly.

The AXS app connects everything & has a bucket load of customisation options.

Off to France at the end of the month for a boys trip.  The Kokoda Track trip with my daughter is costing us about $12k. There is no way my wife will approve $4500 set of wheels.

Mate can I ask what sort of $$ you shelled out for the bike off the rack?

Where does the frame sit on the BMC hierachy?

It's top of the line BMC and circa $10k

The mode I got is second from the top in their range. I think the retail was $6700. I get a bit of discount because the local shop sponsors my cycling team.

The equivalent in specialized etc comes in around the $10k mark with carbon wheels. The bmc has alloy wheels which are heavy but perfect for training.

I then put a power meter on it for $850.

I took a few different bikes out for test rides before deciding on the BMC. Disc brakes & the new frame designs combined make it a lot safe on the downhills & it’s a lot smoother over bumps & pot holes etc.

i feel a lot safe on the bmc than the Wilier. Just looking at selling the Wilier now & getting a specialized allez to race Crits on.

Or I might keep the Wilier & bolt it on the kicker permanently

Yeah I got the 2019 SLR01 Disc. Weighs 6.7kg! Retails at $14k, but the bike shop got it for $10.5k as new models were out. Note insurance paid for it, not me! I should really sell it.

How are the wheels?

yeah they're good. I can run them tubeless, but clinchers at the moment. I did a hills ride last week and I hit 90km/hr and it felt solid as. My old roadie was all over the place at 75km/hr and was scary as .

Is yours the same frame? Would be same weight probably.
