Let's Talk Coffee

Recommended Posts

I have notice of late, the new trend for coffee in Melbourne is now Filter Coffee.

They still do all the normal ones, but Filter is the new "Thing"

Any idea why?

marketing.  trying to differentiate yourself from the other zillion coffee shops out there.  My memories of filtered coffee is when you bought it at a servos on a long car trip, where it sat on the hotplate for 24 hours being constantly reheated 🤮

Just filtered or cold filtered?

Not sure.  It just has filtered on the "Menu"

There is no better coffee than the 43 bean. Why pay $5 for crap at a cafe!

Coffee people are bigger wankers than us triathletes!

Disagree totally,  but when the two come together....BOOM

and dont get me wrong happy to stand corrected but I've never seen a local coffee drinker contact the local paper to say they are going to have a cup  but I have seen a local triathlete do that to say they are racing.....lol

The way the price coffee is getting we might start to see a few crowd funding efforts to support people's coffee drinking goals

I totally disagree.

Anyway I asked the question this morning.

There is 2 types of Filter coffee being sold now.

1. The cold Brew. It drips slowly overnight. Tastes bitter.

2. The drip Brew. It's just like the American type in cafes you see on TV shows with the waitress topping up peoples mugs.

I tried both this morning.

I preferred number 2.  Then got my usual flat white for the taste.

Wash your mouth out and move from the north shore bubble you are unworthy🤡

That also explains why you don't stop for coffee at the end of  the club ride

They're not doing it right. Good cold brew should have no bitterness at all and be almost sweet. If you drink it black you get a lot of the flavour of the coffee. If you're ever in Cairns, Blackbird espresso is very good.
