I have 2 lists. The first are the top 5 Movies I enjoy because I think they are incredible movies and I love watching them. I've probably watched each at least half a dozen times, maybe double that.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Lord of the Rings Trilogy

We were Soldiers

Zulu

It's a Wonderful Life

The other list are Movies that are probably not that great as far as cinematic quality goes, but they do something for me.

Grimsby

Dale and Tucker vs Evil

Rocky 1

Most of the Indiana Jones movies

The Castle

Thats the point.

Picking your top 5 movies and only 5 and then putting them in order is really hard.

There used to be a great Arthouse alternative cinema, The Mandolin, in Sydney CBD. Used to go frequently when I was at Uni and saw Paris,Texas there. Mesmerising!

This is really really tough for me, cause I absolutely love movies!  I'll watch them over and over and over again!  And I'll find out so tough to select just 5, knowing that I'll forget others too!  Some great ones listed so far, and some surprises!

Shawshank Redemption - just a great story, with sadness and joy, retribution, and hope.  Just so well made!

The Matrix (not the sequels).  This movie was insane and changed action films.  The stuff they did, the wire work.  I think it was one of the early movies where the actors did so much of their own stunt work, and look where that's gone to today.  And to do so much of it without digital effects, but using camera systems (bullet time in particular).  I was on the edge of my seat through this whole movie.  Insane.

Star Wars - I'm not one of those crazy super fans, but I have lived this movie for as long as I can remember.  I still remember at 5 years old queueing around the block corner with my dad in Brisbane to get into this.  I'm so happy to have seen every single Star Wars movie in the cinema, including The Clone Wars movie and the 3d release of The Phantom Menace.

Captain America The Winter Soldier - yeah, strange one to add.  But I've watched this a lot, more than any of the other Marvell movies and I can't get sick of it.  I think it may be one of the most perfect action movies made (at least to me).

I loved people having Flying High in their list - in my mind still the greatest spoof movie of all time.  Followed closely by The Naked Gun.

You Only Live Twice - the first James Bond movie I saw at about 5 years old, and started my bond fanaticism.  That's tempered over the years, but through my teens into my early 20's is watched the movies hundreds of times.  But I just lived this movie so much!  The rooftop escape sequence.  Little Nellie.  The volcano siege.  I've never tired of this movie.

The Dark Knight - because Ledger gives us, in my opinion, the greatest villain of all time!  That pencil scene....... done with slight of hand too!

If I thought about it too much I would probably have another ten candidates for top five and the order would change even if the list was the same so I just had to go with my initial thoughts.  In order:

It's A Wonderful Life

Vertigo

The Princess Bride

The Philadelphia Story

The Little Death

Across the Universe.

No other movie is in the same class of "Favourite" so it must stand alone.
