Trannies get together Port 2019

Recommended Posts

Is there an arranged get together for Port 2019 - there are lots of names on here who I have no idea what they look like - I am supporting and would like to be able to recognise a few of them on the course

I'm a late starter so 7.30 works for me!

I'm up from late Thursday night. But I have the witsup swim and morning tea on Friday morning. Then no real plans until bike rack on Saturday.

Didn’t we establish that gender exclusive groups like witsup and everyman jack were offensive?

I find this post offensive. Why? Just cause I can :P seems to be the go lately.

I'll be up for a swim, I'm not racing but I can pretend right?

I find this acronym offensive. It gender specific, exclusive & aggresive.

I forgot to mention that EMJ are offensive and I don't like them.

How do you feel about the East Coast Cycos. Besides the number of Kona qualifiers & women in the squad there is no difference.

That’s a prickly question. Was not a fan off the guy screaming at people on the run up to the light house.

Okay I don’t really care about EMJ, other than I don’t get the teams and club things anyway and the name is unfortunate if you have juvinelle frat boy humour tendencies

Did I ever mention that East Coast Cycos have had 76 Kona qualifiers and been going strong since 92 - just sayin 🤣

We have competitors between 23 and 77yrs  - have a free breakfast for club members every month 😏

EMJ also run community events & put in a free breakfast for everyone.

Their community 10km run for thanksgiving is great fun.

They also volunteer at events.

I probably should have used Reddogs tri club as an example but I wasn’t sure of their size & activities.

My post was never a pissing contest it was a question as to why another forum member has a dislike of training squads.

It’s because I’m not a nice person especially in groups

Turts

Women in Tri, is a Melbourne based lady, who is profiling women in tri, has a interesting podcast that interviews female athletes but focuses more on the rest of there life and not just races. I enjoy her style. http://www.witsup.com/

Also has a number of female pro's that are developing skills in media eg Laura Siddall

I realize as a male i should be offended, but i think it is a great resource and only positive for the sport and everyone involved

Well there ya go. Thanks for that. Ill have a read/listen.

There is a smaller social media based one for South Australia, through TA.  SWIFT. Supporting women in fitness and triathlon.

Maybe because I'm more aligned with SA, I've heard of that but missed witsup.

I think Tim Tufuga pointed out how he suffered from a lack of support from his community (notwithstanding a care package from a forum contributor).

Dunno. How did u hear originally?

I'm not in a club as such. I don't train with anyone.

I read here and go to maybe 2 events a year, on my own .

I don't really follow tri folks on Instagram

I'm a hermit.

I know about SWIFT as TriSA sent out an email.

Think from another podcast that Laura Siddall is on. Or the before IMAUS or IMNZ over the last few years

Really can't remember how I first heard, but it started up just before I went to Kona in 2012 so Stef hooked me up with a visor.

I'm not in a club and train by myself too. I do read lots of stuff though.

My contribution to the sport is far greater than someone handing out a few drink bottles on race day - it would be like asking an army officer to wash the trucks - everybody has a role to play - mine is to coach and promote the sport - been doing it for 27yrs - how long have you guys been volunteering at the odd race 🤣

Is this comment based on your own military exoerience?

There is a shit load more to volunteering then handing out bottles. T1,T2 always benefit greatly from people with experience. Flanman working the finish line st Port is a perfect example. He knows the warning signs to look for.

I have been volunteering at races since 2003 & my family volunteer at every Ironman I compete in.

They will be volunteering in Cairns. Fingers crossed they don’t miss place your gear bag.

Firstly I volunteer at at least 5 races a year and also did 3 years for TriNSW.  ALL unpaid.

However your so called 27yrs is all paid for by athletes.

So you are not in any way volunteering and totally deluded if you think you are.

No, a better example would be to ask members of a cycling club to volunteer at events. Oh that's right, they all do, including the club captain and the coach.
