This bike fit ok?

Recommended Posts

Better to be a bit low on his first road bike, so he can easy stop and put his foot down without risk of falling off. Road bikes can feel a bit high after growing up on BMX’s & MTB bikes as kids.

once he gets his confidence on the bike I’d raise the seat a bit, but main thing is that he feels comfortable and confidant so he keeps riding.

He'll be riding on the hoods most of the time for gears and rakes?

How is it on the hoods rather than the tippy ends of the drops?

seats too high :P

I'm surprised this thread was up this long without that comment.

Could probably use a longer stem, don't teach hit to ride with his hands in that position until he's really competant. On the hoods to start with.

Seat height looks pretty good. If he is going to be clipped in, you could move the saddle up a bit. If he is just rolling in runners and flats, seat height it good.

Also, get rid of the spacers. It will naturally push the bars a little further out, plus it will give him a little more weight over the front of the bike for more stability.

Agree with Willie - get his hands on the hoods first.

Looks better to me.  But I'm no expert.

Once he gets more comfortable you can still flip the stem and work back down with the spacers.

When’s the last time you wore a helmet on a trainer :P

It'd be 30 years since I was on one. I wore one when I learnt to ride rollers. :)
