Exactly. He chose to name homosexuals. Because he's a homophobic cock head.

I've mentioned it before but the obsession that some "conservative christians" have with what people do in their bedrooms is really weird. I spend literally none of my time wondering about who people love or have sex with, I really don't understand why they bang on about it the whole time.

I'm out of "likes" sorry Monkie - but they also have spent a lot of time listening to, or defending, kiddie fiddlers as well.

Yes the bible bashes gays but it also bashes a load of other stuff. Like tattoos etc

I've said at least three times:

Look at the exact passage he quoted alongside his picture. Which of the words there refers to homosexuals?

Exactly Monkie - what is this obsession with what other people are up to??  Not just the god bothering christians but the rest of them as well.

Its a church of 30 people!!!!  They seem to have bounced around a few.  Interesting the control his father has exerted from way back.

Its actually a fair point.

Catholics aren’t saved Christians in the form that our PM is a Christian.

Catholics don’t

So, "to be born again" means "to be saved" because to be saved, one must confess Jesus is Lord with one's mouth and believe it in one's heart.

So, this church of his is only a dinky little thing?  His father is the Minister?  Was his father an ordained minister of another church who started his own, or is he self proclaimed and created this church from scratch on his own?  And of that's the case, is this really considered a church officially, or is it just a grouping of people who have faith?  Does it receive the benefits (tax exemptions) of other churches/religions?

If it's not, maybe this is something that could play into the ARU's hands, if the church he goes to is not "officially" considered a church?  If he was receiving advice from a non ordained minister to "stand by his faith" (stand by his beliefs really) in respect to not removing his post.....

Stuff him either way I say.  But when it comes to legal matters, the little things can make a difference?

It's actually a part of the largest group of Pentecostal churches in the World, the Assemblies of God.

The Assemblies of God are an association of churches & is recognised as the 4th largest Christian group, with over 60M followers. The actual churches are independent but all follow the same beliefs.

Most of those types of churches seem to be as much about branding and personality as they are about the word of god, so maybe they are just trying to nail the right brand.

And appeal to people's most basic tribalist instincts by labelling everyone else as bad an evil.

It's a story as old as time.

From my reading of that article I don't think the Folau's "church" is part of AOG, they were previously involved in an AOG church but then started their own.  They say AOG peeps are going to hell because they believe in the trinity rather than just following JC.  Basically everyone except for them (30 of them) is going to hell.

But, is his dad an actual pastor, or is he self proclaimed?  Do they have the typical church rights?  And if they don't have the "usual" church/religion rights, then is his claim of religious persecution all hocus?

Disclaimer: I already believe his claim of religious persecution is crap

It varies but I have a school friend that is one and he had to spend 2 years in Malaysia studying and preaching..

Yes it did also involve exams and submitting a heap of doco.  Like an internship.

Hillsong used to be AOG but moved away in the late 90's.

They now have a complete campus and courses to become a Pastor.

Interesting, I guess it's similar to the training to be a vicar in the UK. Who's responsible for the maintenance of the registrar or "qualified" pastors? Would you not invalidate your "qualification" if you decide to break away and do your own thing? e.g. Insist that anybody who hasn't been dunked in your swimming pool is going to hell?

I can understand a Catholic School letting his cousin go when he wrote this to a parent of one of the students he was tutoring.

Quote

"any devout Catholic person IS NOT A SAVED CHRISTIAN WHATSOEVER."

"Look at Catholic doctrine, almost 100% of it is false and is filled with lies,"

"The blasphemous Catholic mass is a paganistic ritual rooted in heresy, evil and devil worship."

"Roman Catholicism is masked devil worship,"

Surely that breaches something in his terms of employment with the Catholic Education System.

Well his cousin is right.

Catholics aren't saved Christians.

The first 3 lines are pretty much spot on.

The 3rd however might have been a bit too far.

Looks like he's planning to play league for Tonga.

"Playing for the Kingdom is a great honour and all Tongans love their homeland," Folau said.

"We should never let a dispute stop us from representing our great nation."

I suppose that honour had to take a backseat to earning millions for playing Rugby for Australia though.

There needs to be better rules around this rubbish.

Played League for australia. Now another country?  It should be like SOO.  Play for one country, thats the country for life.  no swapping.

Especially in a case like this, where you are still living in the first country, but because they won't pick you, you go back to the previous. I see nothing wrong with him "honouring his country" by playing for them, IF HE COULD BE BOTHERED LIVING THERE.

Does it matter? There's a lot of precedents of people playing for more than one country; Fifita, Taumololo, Farah, Thorn etc.

I think it does. Why should someone who born in one country, then played for that country, then just decide that they belong to another country. I feel if you are now living in that 2nd country, then yes, you can, but if you are not leaving the first country you shouldn't be able to play for another.

The same for any of the others players you mentioned.

meh... I'd prefer people to stick to one country but I also appreciate the multi-cultural nature of Oz so we can't really complain if people want to respect their heritage as well.  Realistically, this is the only way these smaller nations have any chance of growing the sport - they need competitive players and whilst I think he's a dick, I have to admire Fifita for the stand he took to represent a minnow.

Having said that, I think this is more just trying to find a back door back into league.

Agree there needs to be 'set in stone' rules for swapping rep countries etc.

However, im all for making each nation as strong as they can be at International level.  Take the 2000 Rugby League World cup for example, Tonie Carroll played SOS for Qld that year, but missed out on the Australian World Cup squad, so he was granted permission to play for New Zealand, meant a great player was in the World Cup.  Same tournament, Lote Tuqiri played in a Broncos premiership winning side, was in the Maroons training squad and also didn't make the Aus WC squad, so he was granted permission to play for Fiji.  I think it enriches the quality of the World Cup. because 2 great players (probably others) are still able to compete at these tournaments and make the games better for fans.
