Cam Wurfs comment was the best (as usual) he said something along the line of it ‘looking like a cross between a Stumpjumper and an F1 car’😂

Nope they had one at the Specialized pop up store at the TDU. It’s a fk ugly bike. Didn’t think  it possible to make the Cervelo look good

Don’t get me wrong it looks like the Specialized engineering department put a lot of time & effort into re designing a once popular bike.  Reminds me of the boy racer scene.

Some people will think it looks like this

Is that a fairing mud guard on the back? 😂

Yep. Rat's tail. Stops the money shot.

Fugly bike without all the bits on it.

other than the cut out near the rear wheel I think it look s pretty good. Guess its a good spot to connect the battery for the hidden motor

Yeah if you fill in that bit it resembles to old UCI shiv which was a thing of beauty, before they "Homered" it to make the Shiv Tri

I loved the final line.

"Getting bizzed by a rider on an e-bike is lot nicer than getting buzzed by someone texting in a Prius."

Have you seen this one?

In all seriousness, I've never considered suffering up a mountain to be a great way to spend a "holiday" bit an E-Bike may change my mind.

I love the new Shiv. I'd have one in a heart beat. I am a huge fan of my old (previous gen) Shiv and if it's any better than that in terms of functionality and storage, I'd start stacking all of my pennies.

Yep. Although I’ve never owned one, I’ve always loved the UCI shiv.

Macca’s 2010 Kona winning nose cone shiv was the fastest tri bike Specialized ever released. Occasionally they pop up on triathlon marketplace for crazy cheap.

If I ever come out of retirement it will be on a budget and with the hope I can jag one of those.

I'm still very, very happy with mine

Its all good until the battery runs out 7km from the top then you have to drag the extra weight up

Yeah but he farked up.  And you can swap the batteries out.  I looked closely at the TDU at them.

I still think the batteries are too big.  But give it a few years.

It's harder to see the battery in the Bianchi. The pinarello looks odd due to large down tube where I assume the battery is.

Cancellara makes a good point - you have to choose the right times to use your energy.

If they help people get out on a bike I'm all for them.

Plus the fact that rear hub is the size of a garbage bin.

But with people running a disc on one side, and a dinner-plate size cassette of the other, you don't even see the hub.

True enough.

Part of me thinks I'd hang up my wheels if I needed an ebike but part part of me wants to try one. :ninja:

I'm seriously thinking of it. At the moment all I can do is ride 20km on the flat. As soon as I get on any type of hill I get pain shooting through my kneecap. An e-bike would let me ride rollers as if it were flat & I could get back to commuting a couple days a week.

I used one for 3 days on the Otago Rail Trail in 2016 when my knees were still bad.  155kms over 3 days (probably only 2-3hrs of riding/day).  I was really worried my knees would flare up, but they just got better & better?  It had levels of electric assistance from 0 (no motor) to 5 (= motorbike).  I just used 0 much of the time, then 1-2 for hills or headwind.  It was brilliant, and I still got decent exercise.  You might find it helps circulation to your cartilage without overloading it = eventual recovery (or at least significant improvement)?
