Official Zwift Group RIde

Recommended Posts

If no one has any objections to me getting an official Zwift group ride in the program up and running I'd be happy to do it.  I have nothing to do at work as we are de mobilizing and receiving redundancies left right and center.

It will give me something to do

Which course do people want to ride?

Average page - w/kg, would 2-2.5w/kg cover off people on here or go lower to say 1.7 for eg

Do we need a sweep & lead rider?

Let me know and i'm happy to get the ball rolling, if no one wants it this official ill go back to annoying my work colleagues and wave goodbye to them each day as they are made redundant until its my turn.

I’d be keen for sure, depending on timing of course.

I’d say keep it simple for starters and keep it fairly social, stay away from the big climbs etc so everyone can be included.

From experience - you won't be able to cover everyone, I ride alone most times as I have found that the w/kg estimates are out of whack, besides that what others deem to be cruisy I am struggling.

Normal ride - I reckon cover it for you stronger lot - I can weight dope I guess (~2w/kg is my FTP)

Group workout - The other option is a group workout where we all hang together, but work at our relative w/kg

Hahaha, you're cracking jokes. I can only do about 1.8/kg at the moment.

Nah bro.

Considering selling the new kickr. I haven't touched it yet (too lazy to take bike off old kickr)

It's patiently waiting next to the tellybox.

Yup that would work well. The only option really.

I'm still looking at Stage 4 at 8pm, which is probably lunchtime or something for you sandgropers

I might just jump on to that. I haven't done any of the group rides. The timing never seemed to quite fit.

Cool, I'll keep an eye out.  How hard are you looking to go?

That's all relative. It'll be hard for me, soft as as compared everyone else.

I planning to do TDZ Stage 4 Saturday morning 6am Melbourne time. Although I think I'll take it pretty cruisey because I have an Olympic Distance race on Sunday

I just finished, that stage wasn’t too bad, I sat with a bunch and finished in 1:08, happy with that.  215 avg watts

Have you asked them how we can do a transitions ride.

I saw a slow Twits ride pop up last week in my feed.

From what I've read, they like you to help out on other rides first as a pacer or sweeper.  They want to see that you are reliable and essentially know what you are doing. Rather than allowing complete unknowns to start up ride events.

I only ride once a week now, so chances are I wont make it.

But great idea!

up the volcano

The volcano was nowhere near as bad as NY everything bagel which was truly evil.

Richmond on Thu AM for me. Quite flat which means no nice downhill bits to stand on the pedals and get some relief on the derrière.

There are a couple of downhill bits, but nothing like some of the descents you get in Watopia

What time are you knocking off stage 5?

L'Alpe is relentless, you just need to pace yourself and not go too hard too early

Theres no risk of going too hard... the similar stage took me 1hr 40 during the Tour de Oz and I was much fitter then than now (from unfit to sedentary)...
