It’s been a really slow news week.  This will provide some footage to repeat continuity for the first 15 minutes of tomorrow nights news.

It's been interesting to read the comments on the Channel 9 and Channel 7 Facebook pages. Approximately 98% in favour of Senator Anning and the protest in general. The Today show had 3.5 thousand comments alone.

1.2k comments on a current affairs FB page. Almost all backing Senator Fraser Anning.

I have no issue with him being there, but we shouldn't have been paying to get him there.

Why not? He's representing thousands of Australians. That's his job.

Sarah Hanson-Young has spent nearly a million dollars on travel.

Edit. It's millions not thousands

The same as he did when he billed us to fly to a rally protesting the treatment of South African Farmers?

I liked it when he did that because it showed the hypocrisy of the left and greens.

Well look at the audience of those programs, of course many are in support.  Not entirely sure how a protest in St Kilda is relevant to his constituents in Queensland.  Perhaps the 19 people who actually voted for him, albeit as a representative of a party he left pretty much immediately he took his parliamentary seat, but not the entirety of Queensland.

As far as unwise expenditure of taxpayers money by a pollie this one is pretty low on the scales though.  If it promotes to the wider community what his values and ideals are so that they can get a better idea of whether they want to vote for him next time then I'm sure it's served his purpose.  The kerfuffle that people are making about it will no doubt bring a whole bunch of reactionary votes to him.  He'd likely just fade into obscurity if everyone just shut up.

I thought only 29 people voted for him. Then again I read that in the media so it’s probably incorrect

He stood for One Nation in the Senate and received 19 votes, didn't get in. Then Roberts lost his Senate spot for being an idiot and Anning was installed as a One Nation Senator for Qld. He was immediately sacked from or quit One Nation depending who you believe (either Pauline or Anning is lying about it). He then went and joined Katters party and lasted 5 months before he was again expelled and sacked. Currently sits as an independent but likes to hold Cory Bernardi's hand every now and then.

Lately been talking to known race hate and ulta nationalist groups about forming a party, probably sees this as the only chance of getting elected again and his family history may indicate this would be a good fit .
