I did the same at Ironman Cairns a few years ago.  Just have fun and enjoy the day.

Might even be enjoyable instead of pursuit of a made up time goal.

Got to do the lie down though as it is the move made by those who want it more

Try and be on course to sample everything the aid stations bring out - I remember the Pretzel time last year and ran 1k with a cup of pretzels to drop some off to my 3 year old son:)

Do what Pete did one year, and order some hot chips to be ready when you come back through town green.

20 minutes well spent.  I got to sit down.  Catch up with how people were going.  Found out who won. Got a good feed on board.  Just broke 15 hours.  Got the medal.  Confirmed I'd never do Port again.

When I did Forster a few times I always wanted to stop at KFC on the run.  Then they changed the course so you didnt run past it anymore.

I've seen people stop for coffee at Busso several times

There was a guy in the maccas at Settlement Point a few years back with his chip still on. I was wondering if he was getting a cheeseburger or coffee....

Does anyone know the story with helmet checks this year? Seems they have changed it to being checked on race morning, and without access to the bike bag after Saturday, I guess that means we leave it out in transition like a short course??

You turn up with it on your head ON RACE MORNING.

Pump up your tyres, put your bidon(s) on your bike and leave the helmet with the bike as you head off for swim start.

5 minutes tops.😁

Are you still going to the race? If so rack ya bike & see what happens on race day. Aim to finish the swim & be prepared to pull the pin at any stage on the bike if your not feeling well.

Just back everything off, keep the heart rate below 130 & see how you go.

This for me. If I can’t run.... I can always walk and chat :)

I already feel sorry for the poor TO who gets to say “Helmets on and done up as you enter transition please” a billion times.

Had a chat with AP. He did head out for a swim. He’s still training.

Water was quite nice and smooth but should be  just under temperature on Sunday. Had a great swim and chat with Monkie - who is staying about 10 feet from me across the hallway

overcast. Heading out for my first ride n run in two weeks.

HAHA when are they going to move on from the dumb $7 bags out of china.

Do wheel bags one year. Do a cycling rain jacket another. Do puffer vest another year.

The best thing about the bags is packing them full of clothes, toys, toiletries & donating them to backpacks for kids

You can get the identical one next year too.

No year branding like the Melbourne bags.

Whats everyone thinking about disc wheels for Sunday? The wind forecast keeps changing...

I'm probably going to race with mine as it looks "gusty" rather than continuous... but interested in other people's thoughts!

Sure glad I’m not riding a bike in a tri suit for 5-6hrs on Sunday in this weather!

I always maintain that this race is a month too late in the season.

No such thing as bad weather. Just the wrong clothes.

The problem is I have packed exclusively the wrong clothes ;)

A cheap gillet would be a good idea to have with your bike on race day. It will keep the wind off your core and you can ditch it if you like.

It's already in the T1 bag along with arm guards :)

I was being slightly facetious about having the wrong clothes ;)

I’m not seeing the issue with weather - race should be 1 month earlier though

Then it would have been non-wetsuit!

I just went out for a 30 min pootle in the rain. Is fine and not cold at all.

Any last minute tips for preparing a bike to sit out in the rain for 12+ hours? Extra application of chain lube?

If you get cold in this weather you don’t have enough body fat

Great point - maybe I should fat load instead of carb load🤔
