Tier 3 is cheaper than Tier 2, if that helps?

we are quite use to driving big distances up here, so we will be driving to Perth again to avoid the major rip off which is Karratha to Perth flights.

Oh.  Substitute '2' for '4' then

Point being, you've saved money

No butter on my hot cross buns, I'm in training for Port 2019 don't you know!?

Accommodation booked, I think I've entered (better check that) and also break the news to my cardiologist, I lied. 2018 won't be my last IM.

Don't stress... butter is a "good fat"! 😂

Could be a starter if I can’t shake this hip injury for NZ, might have to transfer!

Better start training ...next week

Training starts February 1st. You have plenty of time. Just keep rolling the arms and legs for the moment and then get cracking on Feb1st (12 week block - 1 week taper).

This is my plan - but nothing for the 2 weeks leading into February except skiing. bring it on... heading off on Feb 14 - the countdown begins.

Might be looking at this now as I’ve got a sportsman’s hernia and now cancelling my IM NZ plans. 👎

If anyone is keen to offload some family friendly reasonably priced accom let me know.

(I realise the insanity of trying to find reasonably priced accom around IM time)

I stayed at Town Beach Motor Inn last year, it might be a bit squishy, but was ok price wise.

I'm over at Riverside this year, the ferry is gonna be a bit of a pain, but it's free and my hosts feed me well :D

We stay here: http://www.lighthousebeachholidayvillage.com.au/rates.html

Pretty basic but suits us perfectly and is right on the bike course!

I just have to learn to run again...starting off this week with 1 min run 1 min walks....21 km seems so far away right now.

@KieranR I'm up to 14k now, doing 15k on Saturday - or thereabouts running from home to the city.

@toolex it looks like it is still at Tier 3 for the half which is $437, but from today onwards you won't get your name on the merch. Name on bib is still available though, but only until April 7.

Ah crap sorry if I had've clicked though one more button I would have seen the info I was looking for.

Looks like up to Tier 4 for the full. Who know how many at each tier though I guess.

Definitely not a cheap hobby, but then again when I compare it to the amount of money some of my friends/work colleagues drink every week combined with the health benefits, triathlons are probably a bargain!

That sounds like a friend of mine, for each country town he races in they organise an extra semi truck load of beer to be delivered. 🤣

My goals for the year have gone belly up, so I was thinking about maybe doing this. Never done long course...  Does this normally sell out? And what's the story with last minute accommodation?

Don't think any of the fulls in Australia sell out especially now they all have accompanying 70.3s.

S#it really

i stilll haven’t entered mrs IP and myself yet

not sure why I just don’t do it early espually as we both get the legends discount and allways do port

#13 at port for her and #15 for me

I just paid a UM entery for her and I have to enter Hawaii UM soon so there is another $4.5k (the low dollar is killing us at the moment ) on top of the $2k for port

Lucky we never go out or drink unless we are away so those $$$ goes to entry’s

You won’t have a problem with the entry but any accommodation close to town will be impossible (unless you want to camp )

will be plenty a little out of town , or if your happy to pay a big premium on top of already expensive accommodation the tri travel would be worth a call

Ha Ha Ha Ha! 70.3 is long for me. No chance of me doing a full!

Not sure if I can, just trying to reset some goals...

@BogFrog I'll keep an eye out - sometimes people I know have to withdraw and have already paid up.

This.

I wasted accommodation in Kona last year  & port the year before.

Plenty of ppl book accommodation & can’t make it.

Try doing Triathlon and skiing. At least it's only me doing triathlon, and there's 4 of us doing skiing.

First few hours in Whistler I was already down $2K for ski hire (2 weeks) for 2 of us that didn't have our own ski's.

Luckily we all had season passes from Perisher otherwise it would have been $168 CAD per day each for lift tickets!! Ouch!

Not too badly, running is now up to 15k in a single run. Pace is a little slow, but I am carrying a 3kg pack (water and snacks) and I do have to stop at crossings, sometimes I get a little lost, and duck into a shop for a V and a Powerade.

Cycling and swimming I can crank out the distances needed easily.

I have club champs this weekend, Wollongong qualifier on the 13th April and then we are in Port for Easter, so I will ride the full length of the course then.

How about you?
