So just to be clear (as I am a techo numpty), you can synch the watch to your phone and upon completion of an activity, it will automatically upload to Strava?

Also, i noticed that you can buy a "tri bundle" which includes separate tri hrm strap and swim hrm strap, along with qr mount etc. Why are the 2 x hrm straps necessary if it measure hrm from the wrist???

TIA

Ayto

Chest straps are still better (more accurate) than Garmin's wrist HRM.  In particular, when riding I think the wrist isn't that great, for some reason.  The two straps, the swim one is better designed to stay in place when swimming without a to covering the strap and holding it in place.  Normal HRM straps slide down when swimming without a top.

The uploading happens automatically from the watch to the Garmin connect app on your phone, which then means it's synced to your Garmin account.  What you do is connect your Garmin account to Strava, so then anything that gets synced to your Garmin account ends up syncing across to Strava.

Cheers, thanks Goughy.

Not sure the separate straps are needed at this stage, however can always be purchased separately in need!!

Hard to pass up the value at $399 so will likely pull the trigger!

The optical HRM doesn't work under water (that's what they say anyway).

As for the 2 different straps, the swimming one does stay on better in the water, especially when pushing off a wall, but isn't as elastic as the normal one, so could get annoying hunched over on the bike & deep breathing. The "tri version would normally go under a suit or wetsuit, so is fine for that type of swimming.

Yeah, you wouldn't use the swimming strap for anything other than swim training really.  It's not necessary any time you have your torso covered in any way.

Nearly buckled to peer pressure here, was planning on a upcoming birthday present to self. The perfectly functional 735 i thought i had lost earlier n the year. Reappeared in my laptop case i hadn't used since march.  Moral to the story is to keep your head when everyone else is losing theirs.

I know nothing about any of these but just got an email from Rebel saying they're selling the Forerunner 735 XT GPS Multisport for $349 if anyone's interested. https://www.rebelsport.com.au/search?q=garmin+forerunner+735xt&lang=en_AU&j=3937609&sfmc_sub=541488701&sub=210872614_REB01_CRP&l=333_HTML&u=73220504&mid=6010679&jb=417

I would say $50 more for the 935 (if the deal is still available) is the better option....

yep 100% it is. I've recently got the 935 and it saved my bacon at least once already...

The only plus for the 735 would be if you don't like a larger watch. The 935 is a bit bigger & heavier.

With the negative of a battery life that won't last for the average ironman time...

That's actually nearly 20% thicker, so noticeable, and it's 9g, so over 20% heavier.

As it is I was hesitant for the 735. I really don't like large watches. I used to wear the women's Timex IM watch due to the size.

up to 14hrs in gps activity tracking mode (Which assumes no sensors) 10hrs with optical HR

I don't reckon I got that long out of my 735, I upgraded to the 935 recently and it's miles better I reckon.

Following an almost 17 hour IM with everything attached (PM, HRM, FP, GPS) I had 11% battery left when I got home last night.

On the 935, that is.

I'm wondering about the vivoactive 3 music??  Got a little to spend at rebel.  Would like the NFC payments and ability to reply to txt with canned messages.  Obviously the music, but I see Spotify doesn't work on it yet.  The 645 music only had Spotify added a month or so ago, so I'd hope it would be added in time.

Not really a tri watch, but I'd keep my f3 and get a quick release to use it on my bikes.  Anyone have one, or any advice?  Thought I'd ask her before starting a new thread.

If you are accident prone, like me, a $5 screen protector off Ebay is a cheap investment.

You can also order some cool coloured quick fit watch bands on Ebay.
