What training did you do today...

First time I've done all the sports in this comeback (ssshhh don't say that word).

One was a 4 k jog with the dog. And one a slow broken 1200m swim. And some time on the trainer. Still lots not right re body. But improving. Slowly.

Did the M7 cycleway on Sunday morning - 78K out and back route, with just water. I was dying by the end, but it's different to my normal ride (Freshwater up through Akuna Bay), where I normally get stopped by lights for the first 20k, the M7 was pretty constant with some rolling hills, i'll definitely be back. Backed it up with a 3.4k swim - slept like a baby last night!

Ran around the park chasing Flipper on her bike.  Then went for an easy 20 min swim.  First lick of exercise since Wales,,ouch!

1st time since Port HIM that I have done what I would consider training. Last week was 4.6kms swimming; 24kms running and an hour gym. Trying to get on the bike this week however, it is only a short week for me. I am off to Broadbeach on Thursday arvo with a couple of mates to take out a friend who is not 100%. Golf Friday, races Saturday and the casino. Back home Sunday.

Hopefully it won't be too painful coming into Nepean and WS HIM.

No smog at the moment. That will come as it gets cooler and more people burn stuff to stay warm.

Like riding in all cities, I'm more worried about breathing in the pollutants you can't see.

I went for a bit of a cliffy shuffle this morning. 2min/1min shuffle/walk and it felt just friggin great. Don't know that I should have, but I really needed it. Was still really slow, only 8min/K average pace over the whole 3.3k. but it was so good.

First rains in Cairns is such a long time.  Nice chance for a wet cool session.

2km warm up and 2km cool down.  Main set was 2x(4 X 500m).  Goal was 2:05 to 2:10.  Six under 2min and two just over, range 7 seconds.

I did a VO2max test this morning, which was fun.  I hadn't done one since 1994.... interesting to compare

I did 1km swim this morning. Shoulders are sore, but it's the first training of anything I've done since early June. My local pool opens next week, so I thought I'd go to another that I've got a 3 year old 10 visit pass with 3 left, just to get a little fitness back before I start Monday. This is what I have waiting for me Monday when they reopen after a virtual complete rebuild of the pool.

Yeah, they should have just added it on while they were at it over the Winter. This was the pool a couple months ago. That's why it's opening so late this year.

Longest ride in over 5yrs, 50kms @ 26kmh in 1:58 with the group training for the Gong MS ride.  Lucky it was under 2hrs or I'd have to shave my legs again :wink3:  Felt strong today - intriguing what not having 3 beers and 3 wines the night before does :wine:

Can't really see the need, or have the desire to ride more than about 2hrs anymore.

Tried out the refurbished pool at Samford today. The last swim I had in it was 100 x 100 on 1:45. I'd swear they added 5m to the end of it when they rebuilt it over Winter, cause I couldn't even manage 10 on that cycle time today.

Feeling very tired at this point, but glad I did it.

Just the sudden change.  I normally enjoy hot weather but seems cold melb stuff has softened me

Feeling slightly better today, and managed 1.6km. Still have absolutely no speed, and had trouble even doing my normal W/U at a pace 10sec per hundred slower than normal. Just putting some distance in the arms & shoulders at the moment, so happy just to be back in the water.

Today was 3 x1km (goal 4:10) and 5 x 200m. 

Ran (in order) 4:10, 3:59, 3:52 --> (a new PB for 1km - previous was 3:55).

Felt like road runner today - meep meep  :o:D:D:D:D:D:D

Hour on the MTB around the UNE track at lunch.  Strava PBs galore (but still crap compared to the fast guys & gals, though I suspect some have gone round on an RM125), due to the guys over on the offroad thread telling me to drop tyre pressure from about 40 to 25psi.

"Your tyre's are too hard" is the dirty equivalent of "your seat's too high".

Rode my MTB on single tracks for an hour from the front door at work. 90% of which I have never ridden before after a couple of years off the bike. Trail fairies been extremely busy in a very very good way!!

I'm going to try a swim today and see how it goes. I can bend my leg now, so that should help. Late last week I ruptured a baker's cyst - did not know what that was or that I had one until my left leg blew up and I could hardly walk. Similar symptoms to dvt so they got me to inject myself with anticoagulants until I could get in for a scan. These things always happen on a Saturday afternoon! 

Hoping I can get back on the bike on the weekend, even if just for a spin. I hate to see good weather go to waste ☀

2km swim this morning. Still feeling weak & sore, but getting slightly faster. I managed 5 x 100 on the same cycle as I did 100 x 100 earlier this year, but I was about 3 seconds slower per 100. Ouch!

Goal to swim 6 days straight this week, have Sunday off, then slot into squad Monday morning.

Today 1.2km averaging 2.45/100m pace. And as i get fitter it doesn't get much faster than that

Back on the bike today after 2 weeks of holidays consisting of lots of great food and drink and only a week of 5km runs...also I slipped and entered IMAus2018.

First real go on my new MTB. 

Took it for a 25k spin on some easy trails yesterday, and today was 2 laps (22k) of the montainbike club course.  Some parts more like trials than trails (even mostly taking the B line for beginners), but a lot of fun.   Need to learn when to NOT pedal!  Caught a few obstacles with pedals, and even the chainring on a couple of chunkier ones.

3 offs, so a few bumps and bruises.  A proper set of knee/shin pads coming my way  - but my old volleyball kneepads will be making an appearance for tomorrows go.

 

Quite a lot of fun though!   Pic below is some of the tame trail stuff.

65k on the bike before the traffic, home for coffee, toast, fruit and a load of washing. 6.5k run to the pool, 2k swim and drills, 6.5k run home. All at an easy pace.

2km again this morning to complete the 6 days straight. I did a timed 100m on Monday, Wednesday & today, and went 1:30, 1:28, & 1:25, so things are moving in the right direction. Seriously thinking of hitting the dam early tomorrow to do an easy session before squad Monday.

I just know Monday is gunna hurt bad. :(

10km.  46.12min. 2nd female.  Not what I hoped for.....but still a solid run in humid conditions.

I don't know what I was thinking. 2.6km at the dam to make 7 days in a row after nothing since early June. 1st day of squad tomorrow should be interesting. :helpsmilie:

But I have been reflecting to afternoon and remember that it is a privilege for me to be still running and everything I do is a blessing.  Just love achieving that next level of better. :D
