Nah, I've been reformed by Ashley. I'm not going to fail anymore. Ask me what happens if I don't finish the 2014 Melbourne Marathon.

Don't bother. I WILL finish it! My taking the tram half way does not mean I failed. I just haven't finished yet!  #1/1/1 #manofputty

Yes, but I didn't get the tram and then run through the finish shute 😂 Maybe if I do the other half this year I can claim to have run both the 2014 and 2018 MM - consecutively, or even simultaneously!

Or even claim the worlds longest contentious run of 4 years.😀

So many words without really saying anything.  Straight from the Oprah/Tony Robbins playbook of waffle.

For goodness sake woman....just say "it was tougher than I thought.  I'll re-assess want to try again".

You'd at least get some redemption in the tri world but you'll always be a wanker.

ps. I'm legitimately impressed that she even got through 2 in a row.  But still a wanker

I'm not. The facts are that anybody who's full time job revolves around being fit, should in 3 months get to the point where they can swim 3.8km slowly in a 25m pool, take a 40 minute break, ride behind a truck on dead flat ultra smooth roads for 3 hours, take a 1 hour break, ride for another 3 hours, take another 40 minute break, then walk/run/rest for 7 hours. Then back it up the next day.

I may sound harsh, but for a "fitness professional" that shouldn't have done what it did to her.

I can't see her having another attempt, it looks like she jumps from one thing to the next to avoid anyone really finding out some sort of truth. People like this rarely enter anything that is competitive or allows them to be measured against others, so you wont see her in real Ironman's or say ultra man or race across America.

Exactly this. If a bunch of us can have full time jobs and go around < 12 hours then this is not impressive. I reckon more than 50% of trannies could have done what she did i.e. pootle around in 17 ish and then have another go the next day. It's pretty lame to be honest.

I agree, two days in a row, most of us hacks who do a proper Ironman Prep would get through two days and possibly even 3 or 4 days taking it steady.

Her fitness structure is a bit different to that of an endurance athlete.   Unfortunately for her she has labelled herself the later and really hasn't invested in the process to become one properly.

I see her type at gyms constantly.  I actually work along side a trainer who has the same attitude.  But here I get to see the person behind the Instagram image.  Amazing the contrast.  On SM they appear friendly, helpful etc. But in real life they hide behind their image.  They dress for show yet ignore those around them.  They preach stuff and do the opposite.  Their diet revolves around pre workout, sleep formulas and other supplements.  When they train they make a lot of noise and have shit form.  Then they take selfies.

One positive for AH is she can actually do exercises well.  As for the other stuff ?????

The issue with these types is the response they get on SM with follower count, likes and the comments regarding how they look, how inspirational they are.  This paints a fake image and persona and flatters an ego which in reality is not that happy so is seeking attention and affirmation they are awesome.  So actually the people who continually praise their BS make them turn into a person who cannot handle the heat

I don't know how you can say her fitness structure is different to an endurance athlete. She recently ran 230 miles in 3 days, swam 200 miles, and did a 700 mile ride in a week. ;)

Just ask her?

You failed, by every measure, six ways to Sunday and back again.  #itreallyisquitebloodyhard!

Perhaps I should have qualified my "legitimately impressed with 2" in that I didn't think she'd get that far, especially with her previous achievement boasting.

Seemed to be a total stuff up in logistics, planning and execution from day 1 in Haiti.

I get what you're saying. After Haiti, and the scrutiny that was on her, I was surprised she made 2, but not impressed.

This one though cracks me up

  • chelseasullivan1014I have never done a TRI. I’m not much of a competitive swimmer but for those children I would become one. Lots of people here in Oregon who would love to .

I think she is confused. The children are helped by money, not by more triathletes 😂

In other news this reply by Ashley to one if her critics is more down to earth than usual:

ashley.horner@drdarrenkreitman Thank you and yea no doubt it’s a lot of training to prepare for one- but i have been training... i think it’s easy for people to look at a few of my pictures on the interwebs and just because I am indeed a bona fide fitness model they judge so much by a few photos- but at the root of who i am... I am an athlete; through and through... AND I have a love for humanity. I have been training for a very long time... my training was not intended to finish in under 10 hours or 12 hours, like you would aim too on a race day but slow and steady pace to get me through each day. Obviously, errors were made early on in my hydration and nutrition with a lot of different variables effecting this, and that is why my ass got put back to where i am now lol. My intent was to never insult any triathlete- in fact the opposite because i respect the game. I picked this because it was, and IS hard. It challenges you to grow physically and mentally And when you say I ‘admittedly aren’t trained for ONE’ ? ... I’m confused because I did 3- fulls in less than a week.
Plus a 2.4 swim... <got sick> and then a 2.4 swim and a 112 bike and realized I was ONLY out there because I was being prideful. I had forgotten; my purpose, my intent and my leadership. And now I’m here saying mistakes were made... it happens we all learn and that’s how we become better, smarter, better teachers and leaders. But more than anything want to get back out there and keep hammering them out.
and when you say good luck on my ‘next endeavor’ I haven’t move on to the ‘next’... I’m still here. Very much so- 🙌 I loved your message, and appreciate your opinion. And hope regardless of what direction I go, I’ll have your support and be tuned in on how you can help in a big big way bringing the community together.  #WomanOfIron

Haha spare me please. This is the same flake that responded to a post asking about her protocols with ‘ I don’t give a fcuk about you, your arbitrary times or rules’, yeah that’s respecting the game for sure.

Im very slow compared to many on here but I’ve never disrespected any course, never posted a single thing I didn’t do,  hit every timing mat and let the result stand, good or bad.

I am  no different to 100s on here, we all do our best, take our lumps and praise those that are faster and slower.  If you do it because you love it, respecting the game is a by product.

Raising money for ‘whatever’ is a by product. You have to want to do it first from your inside, not for you followers.

Thats the piece of the jigsaw she is missing and always will.

Horner could learn a lot about respecting the rules / the course / the body and balance from reading FP's IM Wales report from last year ... but I don't think she would as FP isn't a model / influencer.

Well said, mate.

Gotta be honest, I am no fan of this endeavour but I reckon this is turning into a game of stacks on.

I’m not going to make any attempt to defend what she has done and how she has gone about it. I look forward to hearing about the amazing things everyone is doing to give them the confidence to lob that much criticism.

I did "Dry July" and now haven't eaten chocolate for 21 days. Next month I'm also giving up chips, and the month after soft-drinks.

And I haven't lately guaranteed 600,000 followers that I would do something that only 1 other person has ever done, fail 4% of the way through it, and then fail to admit that I didn't do it.

Keep looking at the stars even when you are running in the gutter and remember It's not the number of breaths we take, but the number of moments that take our breath away that really matter. Nail your colors to the mast, but be humble and never forget that you deserve this and every special moment because you are worth it and truly unique. Do it for the children and you will have power wherever you go and no challenge, no mountain peak and no star will ever be beyond your reach. Always remember you have been given this mountain to show others that it can be moved.

I was thinking about this and also about that French dude Dorito Petri in the 1928 London Olympic marathon this morning. You know, he ran out of strength and energy before the finish and collapsed and had to be almost carried across the line by fans and helpers. If only he had fans like you, he could have dug down deep and found that strength and iron to get up on his own and power his way across the line and win fair and square. No short cuts!

Not saying he was weak or anything, people probably didn't know as much then, but if I could only have reached back in time to tell him that even when every ounce of energy has been burned up and your heart is about to stop, if you just pause, regroup, reach down deep inside yourself and think of the children, NOTHING can keep you down and nothing can stop you. When you do this you will have true power and leave footprints of love and kindness wherever you go. You just have to believe and then you WILL achieve. After all, it's not what YOU say you'll do, but actually what You do that makes you You! Quick update: Still in regroup mode, but will Crush this challenge when I decide in which direction I want it to go.

Yeah looks like a few people have gotten a little bit attached to Miss Horner. Posting every little social media titbit and critiquing it within an inch of their lives.

The human experience always amazes me. Sometimes I shake my head and think WTF were they/are they thinking. I guess that's the thing this time - they are not.

Onward and upward (or downward and out).
