SBR x 3 - What pedals?

Recommended Posts

So Elite Energy are putting on a fun event in September which is:

ROUND 1
SWIM 300M (DIVE PONTOON START)

 RUN 1KM

  BIKE 5KM

  SWIM 200M

  RUN 1KM

ROUND 2

  SWIM 300M (DIVE PONTOON START)

  RUN 2KM

  BIKE 10KM

  RUN 1KM

ROUND 3

  SWIM 300M (DIVE PONTOON START)

  RUN 1KM

  BIKE 10KM

  RUN 2KM

So the question is, if I'm doing all three rounds do I switch out to flat pedals and keep the trainers on for the bike bits?

This is an option... what kind of shoes does one need for this?

ride 10km with out cleats & 10km with cleats compare times. Then time how long it takes to change shoes. Then to the math

Challenge accepted!

RBR. Good question. I shall ask. But not sure it affects the shoes?

Flat is faster mate. I did a bit of enduro racing years ago and needed to be over 8km to be worth it. But I did loads of practice with flying mount/dismount with draft legal stuff.

What do pros use in itu sprint?

I know the nz team used some flat type pedal at comm games.  What did they use?  Maybe that would be perfect for this?

Re if its draft legal.  I was thinking the sooner you're on the bike the better to make sure you make any packs.  Save it for the run and chuck the shoes on after the bike.  More to gain bu making a faster bike pack than saving 10sec in T2

Flat pedals and runners.

Over such short distances, you will pick up time during transitions and not using cleats will make bugger all difference.

Trying to find out what they used... articles I can find only say "runners". Any ideas?
