Spot on, Sam you're a great supporter of others, regardless of their abilities.

Now it's your turn to enjoy some support from the rest of us.

You guys are really amazing, the level of support for each other blows my mind.

Sam enjoy the trip and don't pressure yourself too much. Getting to the start line healthy is the most important, from there nothing else matters other then crossing the finishing line and hearing your name

Yeah, there might be a bit of argy bargy around here at times, but regardless all those same people pull together for a great cause.  Enjoy it all Sammy.

Spot on advice.  The focus of your training should just be to get to the start line healthy and with the aim to be fit enough to finish - Even that can be hard enough when you've been injured and you have a tendency to put yourself under pressure.  Sunnygirl went to Kona knowing she'd have to walk the entire run.  Just look at the cut-off's and work your way back from there.  Anything else you can achieve is a bonus!

Yep, Sunnygirl's book of lessons is one I refer to. She served a serious apprenticeship.

The most difficult thing will be getting the time off work. We have to lodge annual leave 6-12 months in advance......

And I was thinking on delivery, "How can I get Turts, Pinkboy, Sunnygirl and Go Easy" there as well....?

Can't have everything or everyone but I can dream.

Dreaming can be fun, you never know, if you dream big enough it just might happen!

Maybe I can pick Turts up on the way over.  I haven't seen Sunny for a while (HOTW 2 years ago) but it would be good to catch up again.

I'm going to be off the grid here for a bit, but I'm happy to help out where I can for you to get this done...  Like the others have said, enjoy the journey!

Sam

as you train more, remember it is just a hobby, there are more important things in life that need to be prioritised above this.

Getting to the start line uninjured and motivated is the key.

Looking forward to following what you choose to share.

You'll really only need a couple of days before and after the race itself.  I'm confident you can do enough training around work.

Gotta go back to work myself right now, but you'll be fine.  You've got this!

Don't drag me into this buddy! I retired from Ironman after Busso 2015.

(Actually I think I retired halfway thru the hellish swim)

Funny enough, I got a call one day from one of the guys here wife. She wanted to make sure he could get a few days off work at a particular time, as she wanted to surprise him with tickets to the Singapore GP for a birthday present. Any decent boss won't have an issue with it.

Start working on your Beer Mile outfit now.  It's not something you want to leave to the last week.

Sat down with the manager.

Explained what was happening.

He knows I'm a nut for it.

Showed him the clip.

Annual leave roster was full but he's given me the time off 😊😊😊👍

He was dead against it until I told him that he would get a call from B@W... Then he started sweating and filled out the form 😂😂😂😂😎💪

Jokes.

But, yes I have the time off. Including the Monday...... 🤔🤔🍺🏃‍♂️🍺🏃‍♂️🍺🏃‍♂️🍺🏃‍♂️

It would be good to keep your boss up to date, he'll be known as the manager that 'supports their staff' in the PO newsletter   but be careful not to bore the crap out of him with all the k's swum, HR zones, PM watts, FTP, SS, 3.00am is last year, 1.30am in in the rain, up a hill etc etc

I fully support this endeavour but just letting you know that if you turn up on the footage as one of the slow motion inspo stories then I will stop watching... 😉

Meet Sammy Brown, the man behind the mail..

"inspirational musical interlude"

Up every morning at 3am, racking up the kms, getting the hard yards done but not the way you'd expect.

"inspirational footage of you on postie bike looking forlorn as you ride past the pool or a group of cyclists training"

Juggling the demands of a fast paced and physical job, parental responsibilities and training for an Ironman(c) isnt easy but Sammy Brown shows that with determination, perseverance and a commitment to priorities the important things that it can be done

"montage with running beside daughter or just enjoying an ice cream with her.."

see what I mean... eugh... 😉
