Luke has been very quick to come out in defence of his wife.

It was screenshotted by a female pro who I have never heard of. Caroline Gregory.

Interesting that she's demanding the benefit of the doubt, but won't afford others the same luxury...

Yeah noshirtsteve is on the money.

I think it would be better for her if she stopped playing the victim card, stopped mentioning her drug ban and moved on. I wonder if she was young, male with no kids, would the overwhelming support be the same?

Noshirtsteve is well known in the Sunny Coast. And the names rings true, rarely in a shirt.

Jesus she's really laying it on thick on Instagram... being banned for doping is probably a blessing in disguise for her.

Regardless of whether she is guilty purposefully or accidentally she has made a mistake somewhere along the line.  She has had to come to terms with that and deal with it.

People in all walks of life get busted doing the wrong thing at work all the time.  They also have to deal with those consequences.

I cant imagine being told I couldn't do something I was passionate about and loved for 2 years, or what I would say and do at the time of being told about it.

Were all humans we all make mistakes.  If you dont like her dont pay attention.  She wont hurt you I promise.

Agree, it would be easier for her to sook & fade away from the sport. I found it interesting the number of other pro women lending her support & words of encouragement.

Just Curious, have any spoken out against her or are they all to scared too? surely there would be some who are not keen on having a convicted drug cheat back in the game?

Personally, I feel as though she has now completed her sentence for the violation and according to the rules is allowed to race again competitively and if she so wishes to do so, then go for it.

You're right. I clapped her as she went past, I'm not a hater. And good luck to her, I hope she goes well. It's taken a lot of balls to come back the way she has.  But if her people are going to discuss her doping history I'm going to chime in. We're still talking about the likes of Ben Johnson, Marion Bailey, LA decades after they got busted, she's no different. I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing her situation as long as it doesn't become malicious or denigratiory. .

Maybe I'm missing something with old shirtless steve from sunny coast.  Just seems like something some bully from school would say? I dont like you and neither does anyone else.  All I thought reading it was what a knob and what was he trying to prove?

I wonder how many of them know and/or understand the correct circumstances of her doping bust. The story going around is she took salt tablets contaminated with Ostarine and was able to prove this, yet was still banned. Hence the reason there has been an outpouring of sympathy. Not quite true. And I suppose her situation is quite topical as another triathlete - Lucas Pozzetta has just been busted for Ostarine and is claiming the same thing, contaminated sample.

Agreed,  but personally I dont see what there is to discuss.   It was all done 2 years ago.  Digging up what someone did or didnt say over the past 3 years gets us nowhere and isnt what we should be talking about in the sport.  If that's what's most important to people then they need a new hobby.

He didn't articulate it very well, but he made a few valid points -  "U tested positive and couldn't prove innocence as u claim"

That gets swept under the carpet.

I don't think it helps that she keeps on bringing it up! Hence the reason Shirtlesssteve pipes up and then I pipe up! But anyway I'll move on :) It's more of a case that it interests me rather than something that irritates me.

Maybe some of them are also using something on the edge even a TUE and know it could bite them in the arse one day.

Brett, Its fine if shes done the time for the crime but she has never accepted it even though she TESTED POSITIVE.

Draw a line to any criminal that never shows any remorse for a crime, and the judge never lets them out early.

Even Lance finally admitted he was using drugs

That's the story she wants to tell.  The truth is that is her claim but multiple tests of the unopened product could find no trace of the drug.  Abit earlier another female triathlete was busted for ostarine but was able to prove contamination of salt tablets, a cynic might suggest that Beth chose to claim the same source of contamination because whether she could provide evidence or not it seems more plausible based on the other case.

Ostarine is effective in increasing muscle mass and improve endurance.  Is it a coincidence that a number of female triathletes have been busted for ostarine use in recent years but no male triathletes have?  Occam's razor?

the supplement sample would want to be independently sourced for the testing as i reckon it would be pretty easy to open the sample, contaminate it with your remaining drugs and reseal it. A quick google search on types of packaging and how they seal would explain it and failing that a slab of beer to a local packaging company or food producer with similiar equipment would solve it.

The issue doesn't lie with the taking of the drugs and serving her punishment. That's done and dusted, we have a system and rules in place for handling this. Justice has been served.

However

She was brutal in her shaming of past people being found guilty, she called for life bans, she wouldn't forgive but for some reason now she is to be held to a standard that is not her own.

Yeah it's nuts that she provided the samples. Like you said it needs to come from an independent source.

I think we can see from above she did it on instagram.

The people that are most vocal about drugs are usually the ones on them.

Just look at cycling and the guys that have been busted over the last 15 years.

Id be on drugs if I wasn't so shit. Cause not even drugs would help me.  Well maybe weight loss ones might.  For a while

Just read through the IG postings and it seems there is some bad blood there for some reason. Nothing positive came of that exchange at all - no-one will be convinced that the other is right.

She has served her ban and is getting on with it. Great run split. End of.

Luke gets somewhat aggressive in response to people at times on social media, another example this arvo in response to shirtless Steve, I reckon as a business man building his business in a very public arena / sport he could be a bit more professional at times as it’s not a good look for the face of Wyn republic to respond like this.  There’s always Going to be trolls, be a bigger man and move on Luke.

That was the first thing that I thought of - met them both in Kona a couple of years ago and they were a lovely couple. Can take years to build a brand image and 5 seconds to destroy it!

I liked his response "zero fns given" good on him for standing up for his wife. Reading her posts she still believes she will be cleared.

Didn't rocket salad catch up with her for a coffee & chat?

I guess this is why people shouldn't be ****wits.  If someone had a crack at my mrs I would have a crack back.  I'd be aggressive too.  Why shouldn't he be allowed to do the same?  He's just another bloke with a mrs and young kids.

No one knows what's happening in people's lives or what battles they are going through.  Sure you put yourself out there you're going to get a few trolls but this one had the feel that it was a bit more personal.

Fair enough, but if I were building a business, I’d be more responsible in my posts.  I preferred Beth response to Steve, far more measured and professional.  Defend your mrs to the hills, I would too absolutely, but when I’ve got a budding business I’m building I wouldn’t respond with zero f#*ks given, I actually didnt think Steve’s comment was bad but he’s entitled to his opinion, as are we all.

Out of interest I hope Beth can prove her innoncense but at this point she hasn’t been able to, I wanna see shirtless Steve’s apology.

As I said, reading between the lines and the follow up msgs ir definitely seemed a bit more personal.

Re the business.  Sticking up for your Mrs that's a plus from me, I can relate.  But I already wear their kit, have also met them both and cant speak highly enough for how nice I found them.

I reckon there’s something more too mate from the messages  but I don’t know any of them so really have zero idea, from the media I’ve seen of them, yeah for sure I reckon they sound wonderfull people to.  I’ve just got my serious hat on I guess, and if I were in Luke’s shoes I would have responded differently considering I have a business I’m trying to build in a very public arena.  Beth response was spot on I reckon

That noshirtsteve Guy is giving someone grief for cheating..... the same guy got disqualified At Hervey Bay 100 a couple of years back for wearing floatie shorts under his swimskin and tying to hide them at t1......... certain types of people let this junk bother them, others deal with their own square meter.

Totally agree with you Kieran. It seems pretty immature and unprofessional. I'd always stick up for friends and family, but it can be done in a dignified manner as demonstrated by Beth.

If they don't want adverse attention then they shouldn't be on social media and should be keeping a low profile. At the end of the day she's a professional athlete that got busted for doping and yes she's served her ban, but she's never admitted to it. Plus she keeps on bringing it up.  And also her attitude is a bit sh!t so it's easy to be less sympathetic. She was merciless towards fellow competitors who got busted for doping, now she not only demands support, but also the benefit of the doubt. She needs to stop playing the victim and move on, stop mentioning her ban. She got a 2 year hiatus from the sport, that's it. No big deal. She's back, let it go. If she mentions it, we will continue to discuss and speculate.

I was there for that race, and know the TO that busted him for it.  If I remember correctly he was informed before the start, and kept them on assuming the TO wouldn't notice any further, but fortunately the TO was clued up to him.  I'm sure he was telling me about it afterwards up at the presentation.  Glass houses and all!  Now we just need someone from WA to chime in :)

Might derail this thread a tad, but i have never been able to understand the mind set of people on social media trolling, bagging, disrespecting, call it what you will things they should not follow.  Like people who follow sporting teams that are their favourite and just bag out their supporters etc, makes no sense to me, i think this bloke should just hit the unfollow button and move on.

I was a huge LA fan, father passed away from cancer when i was young and actively followed and supported him and his charity, since he was outed on drugs, i simply stop following the man. thought he was a fraud/lier, i didn't feel the need to troll and i have never felt that need.  I just dont undertsand it.

i read your first paragraph and immediately thought about what you said i the second... While listening to LA's podcast during the tour last year I checked out his instagram account a few times and some of the crap being posted every day by the same people about him being a cheating lying bully etc..

photo of him watching his son play football- a" I wonder if he is a juicing cheater too"

riding bikes with his daughters- "I hope they only learnt to ride form their father and not to be a cheating lying scumbag"

etc..

Get a life people...
