MTB Shorts

Recommended Posts

What do you wear?

I've just been riding in my roadie gear up to this point.

I rode yesterday in normal shorts and a KMart "sports" shirt.

The shorts weren't too bad, but had me contemplating my choice a few times in that 75 minutes.

I'm generally commuting of doing trails.

So, styles? Brands? Suggestions?

I love the baggy shorts for the mtb, mainly because mine have zip pockets for phone, keys etc.

Nearly all mine have come by driving through Canberra and lucking out with the bargain bins at Pushys.

Between the young bloke and I, we have picked up around 6 pairs of lined baggy mtb shorts all in the $25-40 range. Comfy as.  I have Fox and Bellweather brands.

I just use road knicks or knicks with thicker lycra. I like them better as they seem to catch less.

I'm yet to find a really good pair that are well made and don't sag and catch although my old Lab Gear ones are OK and I do like the convenience of pockets too.

My son like POC but only buy when on sale.

Sport Pursuit currently have a POC sale going on, but pretty limited sizing options by the looks of things, but might be still worth a looksee.

As to what I wore, I just use to downgrade the road lycra to the MTB. Heaps better & more comfortable for XC riding, than the baggy short option in my experience.
