Well done Jo Griggs for calling it like it is...  I wish more people would do this!

She looks like she did when she got that great photo of her taken the day after she married Gary sweet carrying in a case of VB on her shoulder while he walked into the house empty handed. One of the best pap photos ever taken in my books.

Even I remember that! 😂

Agreed.  I'm now definitely not a fan of Beattie being involved in anything to do with sport.  First it was the NRL stuff, and now this...  It's pretty ordinary.

His twitter feed about stadiums in Sydney is vomit inducing. Just another rent seeking muppet.

So there saying they were concerned about the athletes welfare and didn't want any them standing out there even longer?  So why not just get them to turn up there an hour or so later?

As if they care, competition is over, no one forces them to go, the ones that do would be well aware of the happenings around a ceremony. Obviously just a BS excuse from Beattie and co. A terrible excuse.

Seems Channel 7 were briefed on the minute by minute schedule of what was going to happen Sunday night, had there own camera on the ground (admittedly only one camera) and were allowed to broadcast what they wanted before the official broadcast began, such as the athletes arriving and entering the stadium but they went with MKR.

They also had the opportunity to request changes to the schedule, as was done in the Sydney Olympics by NBC, but didn't.

As I said yesterday, they had the opportunity to do it differently, but once they saw the negative publicity start coming in on social media, went in to damage control & started blaming everyone else.

This. The organisers and host broadcaster ‘got it wrong’ but their mistakes were made in good faith. Channel 7 are duplicitous c#*ts. They could have used their experience to ‘read’ their audiences likely reaction and assist the organises and host broadcasters accordingly. Instead they went with MKR.

Typical that they went from ‘host-partner’ to ‘victim-client’ at the drop of a hat!

Now people are complaining that they can only bring one person to the 'thank you picnic'. Oh I want to bring, kids, grandkids, sister, hubby, pool cleaner....

Many people are forgetting the real spirit of volunteering. In fact, they probably never learnt it.

Beattie is an empty vessel. How he got parachuted into the NRL position has me baffled. In a battle of 2 of the great minds of our time,  Karl Stefanovic grilled him (with a soggy lettuce leaf) on Today. This stupid mother is over Beatties shoulder with her kid (in a Barcelona playing shirt) on the phone to Cheryl at home to move the kid around and get in shot the whole cross. This is one of my pet hates. Needed to be dragged away by the ears the 2 of them. So then Qlds most popular adulterer gets Beattie to call them over and asks the kid an insightful question like “what’s your name young fella?”, met with slack jaw and vacant stare by the kid, Beattie’s opener when he spies the kids shirt with Qatar Airlines and an FCB club badge: “You must be a Knights fan”. It is heartening to know his knowledge of Rugby League is right on par with the world game.

Parkside. I saw that. Embarrassing for the had of the nrl. Mind you, the broncos have a new top for every game. If you were a supporter that bought every version, you’d have about 60 broncos tops in the cupboard.

I saw a replay work and I'm certainly not a Beattie fan, but like most Australians I wouldn't have a clue what strip Barcelona play in. It looked like Newcastle colours to me and everyone else in the lunchroom at work agreed.

Are you work for the NRL?

I volunteer about a month per year to the sport of cycling. Specialist support in a risky role.

I made the mistake of including the CG on my list of events this year. The money I ended up having to spend for supporting one day of competition now means I'll likely need to curtail all my other volunteer work for at least 12 months. It was ridiculous.
