2018 Goals-what are they ?

Training goal - Consistency. Is everything, especially for the over 40s athlete. So ... aim to average 8km Swimming, 3.30hrs on the ergo bike and 25km running per week over the whole year (excluding the two weeks of active recovery after IM Cairns 70.3).

Run sub 25 minute park run by the end of summer

Swim sub 15min for 1km by end of January

Sub 1:17 Nowra Tri Sprint (21 January)

Sub 1:15 Husky sprint (18 Feb)

Sub 1:12 Farkurnell sprint (2 April)

Sub 2:40 Wollongong Olympic (March)

Sub 2:35 Port Stephens Tri (May)

Sub 6hrs - Cairns 70.3

Therafter reassess goals. Could be either a big swimming goal (Samoa Swim series, Rotto and Gibraltar channel) or stepping it back up to Ironman distance - Jervis Bay Long Course weekend, IMWA & Ironman Cairns 2019. ...

No x 8 goals. Reassessment time.

So ... take two:

Sub 25 Parkrun over winter

Sub 1:15hr sprint tri - probably aim for October Hills Tri

sub 2:35hr Olympic tri - little husky in November

sub 6hr Western Sydney 70.3.

Oh, I just realised my 2018 goal is to enter the 18/19 summer without being injured :crutch:

Last two years soccer has gotten the better of me.

Deadlift and Bench goals are on track to happen in the next 2 months.

Overhead press goal is looking dodgy, my weight is going up in proportion with my increase in lifting capacity over my head.

I hit 400km swimming for the year. It's looking like I may make my target of 750km for the year. I'd set a very high level schedule of where I should be at the end of each week, and I've come back from 70km behind to being only 15 down now. If when I keep swimming every day this month, it'll see me back in front of schedule for the first time since mid January. :)

One of my other goals, of drinking less, is on track too. I was starting to worry a bit that things were going the wrong way, but 20 days into my "Dry July", and I've realised I don't need it like I thought I did. I'm not going to give it away, but I feel a lot more comfortable about days off now.

One of my goals was to grow more veggies.....does this level of expert advice count.

Knew he was coming for a Manoora Community Garden afternoon event. We literally walked onto the plane aerobridge at the same time at 8pm last night.  A random conversation, have met a few times, a swapped number and a surprise visit today. My neighbours were besides themselves when I said he would be here in 10 minutes.  Such a gentleman.

I'm in awe, and so jealous Skel. My favourite Aus TV personality.

My neighbour is still beside himself (I can still hear him laughing and talking to his mates).  He is also our landscaper (we have a verge large complex), and he has idolised him for that many years he has worked in landscaping.

By the way, that is Costa analysing my super giant tomatos.  Needed to redeem myself after we laughed at how well I can grow giant zucchini leaves.....

Was aiming to complete the local tri series next season, but I've said that the past 2 seasons and not got there.  Whenever I approach something mildly resembling bike & piddling run consistency, the ole knees start going south and I can't return to the constant knee Hell of the past.

Would also like to do that Fingal off-road tri in Sept, but we'll see.

On the plus side, I've discovered mountain biking which I enjoy way more than road cycling, and despite only doing 2 swims/week, I'm quite happy with how it's going in prep for the Noosa team tri.

Also want to catch a 100cm+ cod on fly!

I don't even know if I've posted in this before today, couldn't be bothered looking!

So I wanna plan to do some of the gatorade races on the goldie with Jas and my mate, with a view to doing Kingy later this year.  Then I'm gonna think about stepping up to do Tweed Coast Enduro next year.  Stepping stones.  And I wanna go back to the BRW on the goldie next year - I've always enjoyed it as a fun way to finish the year out.  But I'd like Jas to come and do it with me and my mate.  Technically she has to be 18 but I believe you can submit a request for exemption, and I'm hoping that doing a few enticers etc will be enough to get her in.  So I guess I need to start swimming, and get some consistency on the bike.  I know I'll get in trouble at home, but I'm gonna try and do a run/walk at all these and see how things pull up.  Strictly a 2min/1min and see how it goes.  I'll continue to do no running at all in prep.

It wasn't one of my goals this year, but I'm stoked with what I've been able to do this Winter in the dam. I gave up last year in May. I even remember going for a walk around the dam in June and commenting to my wife about the idiot out swimming (and he had a wetsuit on). This year I've managed to swim right through Winter, and even managed to swim in Melbourne, and that was sooooo much colder.

Next year I'm planning on something even bigger and better. Looking forward to the fun. :)
