IMNZ 2018

Recommended Posts

I'm driving down Thurs morning from Auckland. Fittest I have ever been but struggling with a lower leg injury and not confident I will be able to run. I will have a trannie cap on so give me a cheer when you go past.

We've heard that before leading into IMNZ.  Enjoy kona.

You must be confusing me with someone more talented! I will just keep grafting away and have a few good cracks next year when I age up, maybe even Busso 2018 as I hear the new swim course is easy.

Arrived in Taupo this afternoon and the lake was calm. Went for a 1600m swim in the lake around 5:30 without wetsuit. Ok for the first 500 but the water is too cold for a long swim without a wettie.

Forecast looks good for Saturday.

Good luck.  You've certainly done the work for the bike.

How many is this for you now?

Have a great race @POT

All that time on the top of the leaderboard for the Trannie's Strava page will pay dividends on Saturday.

Kona???? ( #2 )

Good luck.

Hey @iFoz ,

Isn't it about time you came to end of that "Slow road to Kona" and reached your final destination?

Good luck and smash it mate.

Then break out the AC/DC kit for the after party. :wine:

Thanks Dave.

If any Trannies in Taupo would like a trannies bum bib to wear on race day, I have some blank ones with me. I’ll be rego at 9am and getting a massage at 1pm so will be around race central.

Thanks Peter,

This will be number 20.

A bit unsure how this one will go as I'm still struggling for speed and confidence in the water after coming back from a broken scapula and collarbone.

Made it eventually.

Long journey made longer by having to go into Auckland and back out again because some chump forgot his bike shoes...:wallbash:

Off to Hobbiton tomorrow after registering...  Tranny cap will be on so say hi!

Mine was from Quinn. Pretty much made me cry! Will be sending him a reply. Have school name, first name and room number so should make it. Will wait until I have a photo of me hopefully finishing though!

That is so cool. Are you able to write back to him & thank him for the support?

Sure am Dave. I’m planning to do it with a finish line photo and some gift to inspire him.

The contents of the gear bag is pretty lean. But who cares when you get a hand written note from a local school kid. Thank you Hamish of room 11, best thing I’ve ever received in a gear bag.

That is fantastic.  IMNZ is so far in-front of other races.

Is Jane the RD still? 2004 was my second worst race performance wise (of 10 IM's), but probably the second best run race outside of Kona half.

It's a bloke... he was in the local paper been doing it for the last three years apparently. I forget his name though!

What no backpack. The sport has gone down hill since I left.

Plastic bags now. Tough times.

Live coverage is pretty good to be honest.
