Cranky seems to be in the 35-39 AG and not 40-44 as she expected...

I've now dropped to 11th place. Hopefully that wont last long!

How did everyone else fare? I don't know who you all are in real life!

olympic - 4th, but I did Townsville which gave me a head start 😄

I seem to have been deducted a point due to someone showing up in the results who rode 47 min then ran an hour and finished in 1.47 and won the whole event.  Should I email TA and ask them  to look at the results again?

sheeeeet, my table appears a bit off the mark because of the number (9 of the first 13 points getters) of people in the 45-49 wave who are "aging up". Fark it's hard when they get to race in a much faster group of swimmers/cyclists/runners, even if there is no drafting (lick mmmm on that course) just the pacing ll kill ya.

time to drop some weight bef Mool and HTFU

Yes I was happy about that as well -- was thinking of just doing it Sunday morning - then no hurry to get to GC on Saturday

Really?  I entered a few days ago and I thought that rule was still in place.  Good if it isn't though as its a PITA to drive down and back the day before.

If you just asked nicely or made up a story, they let you do Sunday morning.

Yep

Awesome sauce. I'll see you there. I'm treating it very much as a "C Race" and not really tapering but I'm hoping the long cycling KMs will let me beat last year's time. Would also help if they started it on time so we weren't running in quite such bad heat.

An A race for me as I'm trying to get points. My start has to be better than last year! (Missed it) and ended up walking about 3 times during the run due to the heat so not my best race, but still a good result overall. Unlikely to do as well this year as I'll likely have more competition...

might have to think twice about the luke harrop tri :D

Extract from local rag:

There was drama in Southport as well, with lifesavers forced to evacuate the water and close the beach for 20 minutes after a 2m shark was spotted swimming close to shore.

Surf or Broadwater? Not that it matters, sharks are everywhere.

If you're that worried about a shark report this far out from the event, then you may as well never ever hop in the ocean.  Old saying I learned when growing up in Redcliffe;  if you've swum in the ocean you've swum with a shark.

GC canals which empty into the Broadwater are full of them. I figure I'm not the fastest or slowest swimmer, so I'll be in the pack and safe. Safety in numbers ;)

Yep, driving down Friday - expecting a shocker of a race, as on return from injury, and hoping the bloody things hold out. Haven't ran 10km for quite some time.

Last year we were way off wetsuit and the lake is shallow as so I probably wouldn't bother... although obviously I will just in case ;-)

I plan to race rego on Friday (East Hotel) grab the free beer token, drink it, then head back to the Crowne Hotel and have another nerve-calmer with dinner somewhere. Anyone knocking around Canberra and want company, let me know.

anyone headed to melbourne for the sprint qualifier?  thankfully the cool change has come through so am expecting a balmy 26 degrees :clapping: most likely be a wetsuit swim, but I'm leaving mine at home - 21 degree water temperature sounds pretty darn good compared to the 29.5 degrees of Robina......

I would love to be able to swim in the middle!  I remember doing the Byron Bay tri a few years ago.  It was about a week or so after a tourist got nibbled on.  I was swimming along when I suddenly realised I was a couple of hundred meters out from shore and the pack had left me trailing in its wake - I have never swum so smoothly without a splash in my life, until the following pack caught me at which point I put in the fast 500m of my life as I struggled to stay in the middle :D
