Who's trying to qualify for itu worlds?

Recommended Posts

Thought it might be fun to do a third TWC at the same venue so am having a crack at the OD again.

Townsville, done (badly,  should have been good for me but tore a calf a couple of weeks before and had to limp the entire run) hell of a drive though for a three day weekend.

Next up will be Robina (not my kind of a course though).

then Mooloolaba

- hopefully that will seal it and I won't have to go to St Kilda.

Now that I'm on double holidays (work and Uni) am trying to ramp up the training and trim down the kg's - is there enough time? Experience tells me I cant do any speed work till I get under 80, currently at 86 ( 3 down this past 10 days).

Usually a couple of the super-confident ex-pros from yesteryears just show up and place at the Nationals and get straight in (45 - 54 is littered with them) - always looks good if you are making a crust as a tri-coach (no disrespect to the fast buggers, just wish they weren't in my AG).

Hm interesting. I know they asked for it. See TPs above. I guess they didnt bother too much about actually checking then.

I spoke to them 'cos I wanted to wear the green and gold and they said nah because you're a pom. So they're meant to check...

Wouldn't you have a good chance of getting on the pommie team this year being in aus?

So next race coming up at Robina shortly, have not done this event before as "crit" courses are not really my thing but needs must so off we go.

Q. Bike choice either: Super TT P3c with 180/disc and 10 sp dura ace (my sharky bike) OR my training bike, Giant roady with clipons  11sp DI2 and disc brakes.

For those who haven't seen it, the bike course features15 U-turns plus sundry corners in a 5 loop 40km course, pancake flat by the looks of it but I expect it to be super congested.

Oh, that 3rd corner is a bit odd, I can only imagine what that does to what was already a terrible transition area.

But, TT bike all the way.

A lap would roughly be: Mount, fang it, turn, fang it, bend, fang it, turn, fang it, bend, fang it, turn, fang it, roundabout.

Start again at fang it.

If it rains, it'll be dodgy af.

There is a bridge of similar height to the Noosa bridges at the Markeri St end of the course.

.... and if they forget to put a mat over the bump where the bridge joins, you may lose your water bottle.

Last club race of the year today   felt sluggish and tired despite having a really good past 2 weeks of training.  Was hoping to see some gains since western Sydney but performance today was worse than 4 weeks ago which was dissapoiting.  Not going to dwell on it and do everything I can over the next 4 weeks to hit robina in as good shape as I can be!

HM is more endurance - club distance more about speed, right? You can't expect to switch from one to the other quite so quickly, nevermind the recovery requires - well I couldn't at least...

Bad weather, cricket was still played, can't have been too bad.

Found this on their facebook page

EVENT UPDATE - City of Joondalup Triathlon #1. Due to the significant wind speed there will be no swim and we will run with a DUATHLON format for all distances. It is advisable not to use a disc wheel.
