All the best IP.  May your performance be the reward for all the hard work doing the stuff you love and we love to watch.

In the darkest times during the race, remember we in Tranny land are backing you all the way.

What a day. I’ll let Trout give the gory details. Tough swim conditions but Trout felt strong and then he powered through 5-6 places in the first 45-60 mins of the bike. He poured everything into the ride and climbed to 6th or 7th before some muppet cost him a 6 minute penalty.

I’m the muppet, and I am shattered that a little slip up in crewing cost Trout 6 minutes.  F*#king spewing actually.

Time to recharge for tomorrow.

He is 8th after day 1.

I got out of the support car at some road works and gave him a bidon. That was deemed an infringement of the rules.

Don't beat yourself up mate.   I'm sure he's glad to have people that are there crewing for him. Mishaps happen and it's a long event, he can make 6 mins up somewhere I'm sure.

Also, he's very skinny, I'm pretty sure he couldn't throw much of a haymaker

Day 2. Bloody hell. 276km ride. The first 220km in the rain which gave way to brutal, brutal winds.

This thing is a massive team effort, but the bloke out on the road is phenomenal.  He goes places I’m not sure I’d come back from.

I’m glad to report no penalties today.

Good stuff. Just the easy run now.

Yep it's all downhill from Hawi.  Only 70mins if he stays in the support car:lol:

Unbelievable.

But believable at the same time because it's happening. I thought I was going well with my ride this morning.... LOL but after seeing how strong those winds were/are via the UMWC Facebook page.....geez that's a serious ride B)

From Facebook, doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

Not one of Trouts better days. He is terribly sick. But he’s pushing on to the finish line 30 ks to go. I’m so incredibly proud

IP is still feeling pretty ordinary.   He has reflected on the race and I guess he will continue to.  He will share more I’m sure when he feels up to it.

He picked up an award tonight for showing the spirit of Ultraman for finishing despite all his problems.

He is much loved here by the Ultraman family.

Coming 1st isn't the only way to be a winner!  Hope he's able to enjoy the rest of his time there. He has a particular love for the place, race or no race!

Id really like to be a narsty parsty and say maybe he should read that article he thought age groupers who walked in an IM should read....... but im not like that. Obviously his cirumstances were so much different and we couldnt possibly know. Unlike knowledge of those that walk in an IM.

Good on him for finishing regardless.

Awesome stuff from IP, and if you're reading, here's a thought:

Quote

just remember it's a long day so if things do happen to go pear shaped , just take a deep breath and deal with it in a calm and calculated manner

as you know there will be times in an ironman there  when it's hard and you are wondering WTF am I doing here , this happens to the best of us ,  but just remember all the things you have done to get to the start line and all the people that are there with you either in person or in spirt from miles away

if you are hurting and finding things hard it's just as bad if not worse for all the other crazies out there so head down and arse up and don't stop believing

This should sound familiar, you wrote it to me. :)

Maybe he's been a bit too cocky lately - he's had a smart mouth lately - I'd like to see Peter race one now and see how he backs up his mouth - not even regarded as a finish by Trannie standards
