Jacobs will win kona apparently

That sucks. Can't believe the number of pros who seem to get cleaned up by cars in Kona in the days before the race

All the footage I've seen, they have massive bike lanes over there?

Why did he look awful?

Not sure if that was  the right word

but he just looked like he was completely cooked and  didn't want to be there

Hopefully  it was just a trick to get his odd up

Maybe being a vegan and accidentally eating that steak has affected him.

Poor bastard.  All the prep and to end like that really sucks.

Truth is, Kona is a shit place to go for a bike ride.

You go North and it’s the QueenK with B doubles and massive SUV trucks going by you at 80mph every 2 seconds every day of the week (no exaggeration). The shoulder is ok for the most part but still I’d never choose to ride there, just not a pleasant experience imo.

If you choose to go South, it’s a hilly busy road with zero shoulder.

You go inland and it’s the same, if not more dangerous, until you are really out of town.

Wow you must be really good at reading how people are feeling if you saw him passing and can infer all of that!

I find the running is shit.

You can basically only run on roads.

No national parks or trails to run on.

Just Ali drive.

But it kicks arse on any other place to swim.

Obviously it’s completely different on race day and I’m sure it would be amazing with closed roads etc.

It's a great EVENT from the Sunday to Sunday.

The actual course is shit compared to many others. But the week of activities and vibe of the place is awesome.

Come Tuesday after the race I'd rather be in Adelaide. So that's saying something.

I know a female Aussie AG'er was hit by a car yesterday too.

Whats the saying?
The hard bit is getting to the start line fit and healthy or at all.  The easy bit is the race.

The first time I went to Kona, I was 'gently' knocked off my bike by a car too. The guy overtook me then immediately turned right knocking me onto the grass nature strip. Have no idea how he didn't see me.

This is just shouldn't be happening race week.

Got myself a dodgy little dashcam ($25) on Ebay to capture the increasing amount of muppetry driving I see (ignore date/time - the camera can't hold it).

Captured this today on the way back from Lismore.  Got a good look at the Subaru drivers face as he passed - I'd say a change of undies was in order for the poor bloke, he looked terrified!

You need to change the date on it if you want to use it for evidence one day....says 25/09/17?

Surely this is a G-up ! The lanes over in Kona on the QueenK are as wide as a normal care lane. Much better than we have here.......and I thought here was pretty good for the most part.

Gee’s he looks old, appreciate he has been smashed by a car but he looks over 50 in that photo.

How old old is he ? Sport does people no favours in terms of ageing.

As I said in my original post the shoulder is ok but It’s still a freeway shoulder, same as you have on the F1, M5 etc here with cars and trucks flying past you, constant flow, not exactly a place I’d choose to ride.

This is complete wrong

lots of trails to run along"  beaches" and mega amount of nation park with loops and walks every where

just got to head out of town or up the hill directly from Kona

i ran 4 hrs two days ago and didn't see a car and hardly a person
