I wish. I have a nice Fisken log splitter which is fine for firewood splitting but I have a lot of cut logs from tree trunks and there's no way it makes a dent in them let alone split for firewood. They definitely need a hydraulic splitter or similar power tool.

True.

I've been spoilt for the past 15 years. I had an endless supply of fresh cut trunks between 30 & 40cm, and they were easy to split. Unfortunately that may end after next Winter, so I'll have to either stock right up this year or think about buying wood. Really, for us it doesn't make a sound investment to buy a splitter with the amount we use.
