I still hold scorrier(sp) and white concrete statues in high regard. Something about a barren waste land that says home.

Also, if you lay artificial turf....that's no fun for the Postie to ride over [emoji1][emoji1][emoji14][emoji106]

You wouldn't put it on your footpath. Just let that go feral and the council will mow it eventually

Just complain

131318 I think.?

Like I said, lazy, we get paid by the hour. UNLESS he's a contractor then it's a bit different. Star track are all contractors

All contractors out my way.

#no****sgiven

Yep, he's a contractor out here too. Won it off an older couple who were very popular posties in the region. He would do the regular mail on a bike and she delivered the parcels in a van. He always dressed as Santa at xmas and had lollies for the kids (don't know if that's good or not).

As I said, I don't care. He drops stuff to me out the back and we have a chat. He explained how his contract worked and that it's 'roadside delivery' or something (this was like 5 years ago now). And that people should have their mailboxes on the righthand side of their driveways so he can access them easily. Ours isn't, but he now backs into our driveway to avoid the 'grass'. Helps to get on with him.

How many pages are we at? Have we dragged this on long enough now?

Still intend to ride the steel warrior. :)

And who needs a fat bike, when you've got a fat arse?

For those who are up to it

Half for those who are there for a good time [emoji106][emoji106][emoji41]

And Cape York?

Anyone else keen?

I'll be doing it with a two boys aged 4 and 7.

Oh.....and the wife.

You don't need a hardcore 4x4 to do it. It can be done comfortably in a softroader vehicle like an Nissan xtrail.

Last time I did it a guy had a Hyundai getz up there.

I could be interested in Cape. Would depend on a lot of things. I would at least like to take the family up to Cooktown one day.

I would have thought June was still a bit tricky with river crossings etc. Not too early in the "dry" season? (I went up there in Aug/sept in 88, seem to remember the Archer river was the one that was the concern being too deep - there was a ferry over the Jardine back then).

I mentioned before, was traveling with a guy in a 180b and he made it. Needed to smile and get winched a few times but got the same finishers medal as the beefed up Hiluxssssssss

June is fine.

I probably should mention the Hyundai getz didn't come back. :/ The dumb arse drove it into the ground.

We don't have to travel together all the time. In 2011 coffs Pete and I met at a few points along the way including a meet right on the tip of the cape at the famous sign-

"you are standing at the northern most point of mainland Australia"

Remember I'll be swimming about 55 by then, so should be off at the start of the roll through (every minute before sunset helps), then jump on every rider that passes me for 180km. I figure 200W should get me about 5:15 at that rate :).

That gives me 4:30 to get through the run after drafting my ass off on the bike.

No prob's. :)

Just did Parkrun this morning in 32+. Extrapolated out, that's 4:30 for an IM. My walk run strategy is obviously going to work. The swim will be fine. Looks like I need to get out & practice team pursuiting.

I was kind of hoping we'd be on hover-bikes by then.

If you were aiming to peak for this race. How many hours a week should you be training right now?

Not sure, but I'm going to start my taper in December. 20 months should see it fine.

hey I think it's ok. The guys and the bike shop pulled it out of the bag. Broken rear bottle cage (it flipped, like me) and small wheel buckle and scratches. But they think the frames ok. I'll go check later this week to confirm.

I wonder if I put 32mm contis on it if I could ride it to the cape :)

Mja's P5 is a hover bike. Well sort of... it flies through the air sometimes!

Speaking from recent 40+ years old personal experience - a 32 minute park run translates to a 7hr+ ironman marathon split ...
