Nope

Not all go to the same place, some still go off the Sheraton where there are pretty much no mantas these days

I've been with most of the others as well as NCs

With NC we seen 15 mantas continually , the others only 1 or 2 on the same nite

NC time it better , and have a better light attraction set up

NC is no brainer

Cheers

Ivp

Also NC crew are very funnie and the snacks are better

Wot about undies run and athlete parade?

Athlete parade is there. Possibly on a day I didn't screen shot as there was no touristy stuff on there.

When is the undies run? Is it called something different on the official schedule?

Don't know about the scuba. Mr Cranky gets claustrophobia. Not sure if he'd handle scuba diving. Can't take the 5 & 7 year olds either.

It's not scuba, just snorkel hanging off some kayak on the surface. Kids can go I'm pretty sure, just don't know what age cut off.

any tour that goes north of Kona will do. Near the airport is where the mantas usually hang because of the lights that attract plankton which they feed on.

Ahhhh cool. I liked it up and then just kept on going when I saw scuba gear. Snorkeling is cool! Yay! Thanks.

Hah, I also don't drink coffee or tea and have never got it.

Re: some advice, as others have mentioned, unless you aren't doing touring you won't need a car at all if you stay in town. And in town as close as possible to the start as others have mentioned.

I generally don't disagree with Peter, but when I nicked over I used Tritravel and found it good value - sure I didn't do a lot of the training stuff and shopping tours but there were some nice things that made it better (transfers/breakies/bit of chauffering etc.), but moreso and to my earlier point, was a sinch to get into the Kona Seaside which is over the road from the start/finish, rego, shiort walk to expo etc. I wouldn't be interested in staying in town but 2-3k from everything. I'd investigate the TriTravel option no doubt (to get good location if it is still available).

If you haven't been to Waikiki, then if you can swing it, get 2 nights in there after the race.

The only good thing about the Pearl Harbour visit was the video (in there cinema before you go out to the memorial) and the battleship Arizona. Other than that...... It's a day of my life I'll never get back.

Wednesday is the Undy run......we bypassed it and drove to the volcano instead. Undy run phffft.....your nor missing much other than doing a little jog with a bunch of yanks thinking it's cool. Your better of doing the volcano as you have planned. And on the way bank ..... Go to the Southern most bakery in the USA........ Why?????..... Because it's the Southern most bakery in the USA. If not hungry...... No big deal.....just use the toilets! And then.... Talk about the Southern most bakery in the USA on forums..... For the rest of your life........ Priceless!

Agree Foz.

More fun watching dog $hit go white.

It's actually quite easy. Give the dogs left over lamb cutlets or port ribs and it's instantaneous the next day. It's easier to scoop up to (or so the kids tell me :) )

Agree

You have to find time to go to the volcano nation park

Drop the indies run or the brewery, you can go to any brewery at home but u can't go and see a volcano in action anywhere. Once in a lifetime thing
