Men's.

Last year we had 12 Pro's finish. Sadly 6 of them couldn't beat a guy that works full time and races age grouper.

Women's

Last year we had 6 women finish and 2 of them couldn't even break 10 hours.

The womens field again this year looks extremely weak.

Thank God the men's looks to have 4 guys that will make it interesting.

If BK has done the work and is injury free he should win by 45 minutes

Burgs can win, as long as he does so with an 8:40....

BK went sub 8:10 on debut. Admittedly at Frankston but slick over that distance on any course.

3rd in Melbourne, DNF in Kona. Not exactly the kind of track record needed to make that kind of statement.

Credit to Brad for his great debut in Melbourne, but Port is a totally different race to Ironman Melbourne. Should be a great challenge, I'm looking forward to it.

Agree.

In Melbourne you got off the bike in good shape. Last 45K down hill. Perfect surface.

Port Mac is neither.

Not saying BK can't win but it's no Melbourne

Did BK manage to keep on a world class pace against a world class field for 8 hours or did he not?

Sure Port is a 20 minute slower course, but relatively cool conditions will make the day more like Frankston than Kona. So what if it has a few pot holes, a bit of exposed wind areas and a steep 400M climb on the bike - I just don't see that as enough to put someone with BK's class on his arse.

Them's Fighting words burgs. Love it! ...

BK by 3 minutes over Reed with Amberger in third.

Additionally, my best mate from home is racing his first Ironman professionally. He's done a few races over the 70.3 distance or equivalent, but he's out there to see what it's all like.

Burgs is pretty handy on the cans too I believe.

Imagine if he won the thing out right then won the beer mile

That would have to be a first

Surely he would get on sunrise then

Cheers

This would be a bigger than the Olympic/Kona double.

Will be able to do 4 cans, don't know about doing 4 laps of a track but. Can we just do the 'beer' not the 'mile'?
