Pick Burgs Ironman time.

Recommended Posts

So firstly thanks to Josh for popping by and giving us some useful and frank insights into his racing and pro racing in general.

As he has said he is having his first crack at Ironman this year which I'm sure we will all be following with interest.

He has put it out there recently that pros who don't show or don't finish are soft so I guess we can at least assume as start and finish from him but what time will he cross the line to lose his Ironman virginity.

Take a stab at his time, and I will see if I can dig up some prizes for the closest guess.

In the mean time check out Josh's website and blog and support the Pro's who support us.

Ouch, 3:14! I'm training hard to avoid that ominous portent.

I can put together a bag of TYR stuff; luxury Special Ops goggles (for you gaunt and sun decayed faces), paddles (because we all suck without them), t-shirts (pending weight/size categories), trucker hats (because I always see PJ's missus wearing them), and some other nick nacks I have lying around. Back pack maybe too. I think I might even have a new Rudy Project Boost 01 aero road lid here as well!

Maybe smaller prizes for individual leg times, and a larger prize for closest overall time?

I'll go large. If anyone predicts my time within 10 seconds I will give away a new TYR Cat 3 wetsuit, 550USD value.

Josh, you can and will run much faster in future but it's your first Ironman and you will be out in front swimming and riding by yourself the whole way full throttle.. :scared:

Still think this time could get you the chocolates. :sailor:

Awesome Josh.

So make sure you get your split times and overall finish time in for a chance to win.

Bloke is doing his first IM on a course where ~8:30 has been good enough to take the money 4 out of the last 5 years.

Or working with a Pakistani bookmaker?

ÃÂ

DNF from mechanical failure, or you just don't think I'll cut it mate?ÃÂ

- Port Mac roads could rattle filling out of your teeth let alone snap aero bars...so yeah mechanical is always on the cards. Do you run a spare or just sealant?

- Add in the possibility of illness or injury going in. You lads are like F1 cars. On the edge of high performance or breaking point.

- Ironman can just be a prick of a sport sometimes

given by the time the race rolls around there will probably be a 100plus guesses from 8:10-9hrs. I'm comfortable being the out marker in this tipping comp.

I'll shout you a beer if you DNF though #fairsfair

Exactly what KM marker should I expect this slow leak to occur? Have to be prepared. Extra prize for you if you're right. We've just gone prize mad in this thread.

I hope everyone is allowing for extra time in T1 - Josh always takes ages to put his socks on - he has the slowest T1 usually.

No idea on single leg times.

Good luck, more importantly - get out and enjoy yourself (even if that is the enjoyment of flogging your legs for the 3 hours and 12 mins of your run leg...)
