Pumped! This is my first IM! Training hasnt been too bad. Unfortunately missed a big brick session on Sunday, but hoping in the grand scheme of things it wont be too bad....

Least you will have something to blame if it doesn't work out.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thinking of getting a cover of disk covers for my Reynolds Strike 66' from www.wheelbuilder.com. Pretty affordable at approx $100.

Cairns IM is my one and only goal this year, and looks a pretty flat and undulating course other than the climb.

Anyone have experience with disk wheels on the Cairns IM course?

I used a disk last year, first and only time I have used a disk and it was great. It's only that I got a set of enve 8.9 that I dont use the disk anymore.

What sort of time savings did you see? Any affect from the wind?

Was there any effect on the Rex's lookout climb? I've heard that it's not really that much of a hill....?

I have no idea re time saving.

No issues with wind i felt steadier with the disc than i ever have.

Not much of a hill, its a tri course we dont race on hills...

Go the disk in any race your allowed to

ALLWAYS faster , and very stable, it's the front wheel depth that effects the bike handling 95% of the time

Rex's is a solid climb espually on the second time over ,and always into the head wind back into town but it's not long

Surface is great so again another plus for the disk

Cheers

I turn 35 on June 22nd, some could say this is my bday present to myself. But the rules stage age as of end of 2016, so looks like i'll be in the 35-39 group....Wow i'm getting old!

But you'll be at the younger end of your age group which is great!
