First of all you need to establish if you have the gen2 di2.

If it is 10 speed dura ace then you are out of luck if it is 10 speed ultegra you are good to go. You do need to replace both dérailleurs though.

Braze on is the way the front der. attaches to the frame. Most theses days are braze on. I.e there is a tab on the frame that the dérailleur attaches to.

You don't need to replace both derailers. Just the rear. But do not upgrade the firmware on the 10 speed front and it will still work. I did this and it functions perfectly

I don't know Harts, I was helping Royds with one last week and with the old 10 speed front plugged in and the 11 speed rear plugged in nothing was happening. As soon as we plugged in the 11 speed front everything was tickety-boo.

I'm pretty sure no firmware had been updated at any stage simply an "unplug 10 sp, plug in 11 speed" conversion.

You need to update the firmware to make the 11 speed rear work. I run 11 with a 10 front but it can only be done with an early version of firmware not the recent ones.

I believe my firmware is up to date. Wasn't in the shop too long ago and they always update it. Or is it the firmware on the new derailleur?

You need to actaully update the firm ware in the battery mount would you beleive. You need to put the new stuff on then update it or It wont work

To run 10 fromt and 11 rear you need to revert to version 2.3.2 i think and disconnect from the net And update your new stuff

Road bike now working 100% fine thanks to you both!

Just hoping that Royds didn't tell you about my attempt to convert my TT bike to 11 speed...

 yes he did.

I would have just returned it to you and charged you for the work, although the look on your face when explaining the situation to you could have been possibly more rewarding
