So just fishing then 👍

One of my guys "retired" last month. He said he'd finally get the boat wet again after it had been sitting in the garage for 2 years. He popped in to see us last Friday when he came in to give blood, and happened to mention that a job that seemed just made for him popped up and he's going to work in Canberra for the next year.

So much for the boat.

This would never happen to me, unless the job was fishing guiding, for which I don't need a boat!

I don't have a boat - thinking about a little kayak for local rivers though.  But if we move to the coast (Mrs is keen, me less so), I reckon I'd buy a boat just for estuary use.

Today’s good news. Magic day of skiing! Perisher today! Below my son and my brother!

Wow, great day.

Looks like good cover too.

I have relented and booked me and the young bloke in for  a weekend in a few weeks time.

Not sure how the hip will go, but given he is only learning on the board I should be ok as I assume it will be lots of front valley runs.

Where are you boarding/staying. If you at Perisher, get the young one up to the mid station via the Quad chair and do loops of Happy Valley and and the Leichhardt chair.

This means no t-bars and a great gradual slope to improve on + no stress on you hip.

Let me know if need be.

Finished work last Friday. All my sports gear packed to go back to NZ. Except gear needed for Run Larapinta and Redback.

Weather forecast is for 31 degC in Alice Springs so looks great.

Amazon Alexa is getting is first new celebrity voice, and is going to be Samuel L Jackson!!!!

How awesome will it be when you ask Alexa a question, and it responds with "Say what mf'er"..... :)

Going out to dinner tonight for our 25th anniversary.  I really need to get some new clothes, and we really need to go out more often!  First Time in a decade we're eating at a place I can't wear a t-shirt, and can only find one collared shirt that fits me.  I haven't bought one in more than a decade, so everything else is way too large.  That means the one that fits is from before my original weight gain, so it's about 25 years old!  Frig me!

Twas a bit weird!  I don't know if this is a sorry state of affairs for us, but it feels strange being served food we haven't paid for yet!!  And we were waiting quite a while after tea and coffees for the bill, so eventually I just got up to pay, and the maitre d said he would have brought the bill over to us..... faux pas on my behalf.  I think we need to get out more (granted, this was about the only fine dining restaurant left in town).

25 year old shirt for your 25th wedding anniversary, I think you can get away with that - call it a romantic gesture 😉

It hadn't even tweaked that I said that!  Totally appropriate now.  But, I do think it's time to buy another shirt!

Once we've asked for the bill, if it's not there in 5mins, we always get up and pay.  We'll decide when we go home,  not some random with an oversized pepper grinder.

Well, what has been a kind of turmultous year is looking up.  To add to it all, our daughter has just been awarded one of 10 future community leader scholarships at the USQ.  She's feeling pretty chuffed ATM, and she should be!

So after talking about it for a few years with Bel, and selling our camper trailer earlier this year, we have been cashed up and looking for a suitable caravan to suit our needs.

We have looked at numerous different layouts to suit our needs and last weekend we finally pulled the trigger and purchased our van.

Shit is about to get real, as we are now looking at putting the house on the market in February with the view to living in the van on a mates farm for the next 18 months (to stash bulk cash) before we hit the road full time. Destination and timeframe unknown.

Up until now our plans have all felt a bit abstract, but that has now all changed. To be honest I think we are both quietly shitting ourselves now that it has become more real, but nonetheless we are both looking forward to the new adventure in due course!

I was going to say pop in and say G'day in Sydney but if it's 18 months away I might not be here...

All good mate. Plenty of wide brown land out there, no doubt we can arrange to meet in a small piece of it somewhere!

PS - whats the plans?

No idea yet, but it won't involve the city.

Good plan!

Having spent last week up there (out in the West) it's a great place to steer clear of. I dunno how your Sydney-siders do it!!

Yeah, I want out of here - the fewer people the better. Depends a lot on what the kids are doing. If they want to stay and need to house we'll be relying a lot more on investments if we travel. We saw a nice 2 person Winnebago caravan which was about $58k - really sweet ;)

Do it mate. You only get one shot at this.

That's why Bel and I have decided to do it in our 40's rather than our 60's or 70's!
